At full steering I can hear the tyres scrape the fenders or something. Everything in the steering linkage is fairly tight as far as I can see. I believe the tyres are stock sized. I have P235/70 tyres which according to https://tengtoolsusa.com/blogs/news/vintage-tire-size-conversion-chart should be equivalent to J78 which is the stock size for this Electra 225 -1970. The springs are stock afaik, the vehicle does not look lowered anyways.

What else to check? Is there some steering action limit that can be set somehow?

Check the body height to tire, it's in the manual in front suspension chapter. (trim height)

Settling from worn body bushings, and weekend coil springs can contribute to geometry changes and result in tires rubbing inner fender liner. It can also be a cumulative effect of worn steering links.

Does it do it in both directions? If only one side, the tie rods may be misadjusted.

If both sides, likely settling as mentioned. The side to side travel is pretty much set by the components, the only way to limit it effectively would be to weld "stops" to limit travel, but finding why they are rubbing and adjusting/replacing worn parts is best.

A competent alignment/suspension mechanic should be able to tell you with an inspection.

Why can't you tell us what it is scraping on? A little investigation on your part should reveal where the rubbing is occurring.
