My drivers door on my 72 GS will not open from the inside, it seems like the handle needs to go up another 1/2" to get the latch to work The door works fine from the outside. Is there an adjustment that I can make?
I took the interior door cover off and lubricated everything but that did not help.
Thanks
Tim

Happened to me too, but only after I had locked the door :puzzled: Just take the armrest off and there you can see where the handle grabs into the teeth to the doorlatch-mechanism. Move the handle up one tooth and you shold be fine :TU:
How did that happen btw?

It was like that when I bought the car! I tried this already but I will try again.
Thanks

Just weld the door shut paint the car orange with a flag on the top and crawl out the window.

It's most likely that the door latch mechanism is sprung or just worn out. I had the same thing happen to my 72 Stage 1. Cured it with a different latch that I picked up from someone on this board. I'm referring to the latch that bolts to the rear inside of the door that latches onto the post that is bolted to the quarter panel.

Good luck,

Larry

Based on my experience......replace the door actuator that the handle attaches to. Most of the time they can get stripped internally and won't open
the door. Easy test......remove the armrest base and door panel.......attached the door handle w/o the c-clip and see when you rotate the actuator if the rod that goes to the latch moves.....if not, you need another actuator. I will be at the local yard on Sat and it has a 69 Skylark 2 dr. Email me no later than 11pm Eastern on Fri. Good Luck!

I wouldn't recommend putting a flag on the top, because the roof sheetmetal probably isn't strong enough to support the flagpole!:Smarty:

Ok, thanks guys, the actuator is moving the rod it must be worn out, I will dig through my other doors and find a replacement.
