hey

i'm Lennard from the Netherlands and i thought i let u guys show what i'm working on.
i'm currenty working on the left quarter panel. I've repaced the innner en outer wheelarch. These panels had to be custom made for the car since there are no parts availeble for this car. So we ( me and a friend of mine ) made these panels ourselve's.
currently busy with making the panel to get it straight again. This takes lots of work becaus i've found out the the car has been hit once in the quarter panel. and the welding didn't go so great  ( became to hot so fell inwards )
now it's time fore a lot of pics :

firts how the car looked

Wow. Looked like they sailed it there from some of the rust you fixed. I'd say it will be pretty sharp looking when you have it done. Great avatar, BTW.

Wow, I rarely see '75 Century's, and I have never seen one get such nice treatment. Keep up the good work it looks like you are doing everything right. Your very ambitious for taking on such a project. :TU: Please keep us updated. :)

Over here in Holland i've only seen 2 1975, witch where either wagon's or 4 doors.
i have seen a few 73/74 coupe's over here. but not ver much.

I do what i cant to get this car in a good condition and ít's my first american car. To see all the rust was in the beginning quite a schock for me. But hey it turned out just fine after a few hours of working with metal :pp

By the way.
Ive got a aunt living in America too. A couple years a go she was here and told me that her daily driver was a 72 riv
a few weeks ago i've heard that she sold this car for only 100 $ to a guy over there.
I'd loved to have that car also . . . .but hey **** happens :Dou:

btw this is where the car stands in. . .
i know that it aint big compared with some of your sheds
but in Holland you should be happy if u even have a shed or garage

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/Beunhok.jpg

the cars here are from my brother ( very green one ) my mother ( silver car on the left ) her friend ( green car on the right ) and my daily drive nexst to it ( ford escort :Dou: )

The one in the middle doesn't need explaning i think

Lennard is my eyes seeing correct your car has two different shaped peep windows at the side? My 73 has the small peep windows.
The fuel must be very costly over in Holland to drive such small cars daily I run a 350hp (260KW) 5.4 XR8 which I'am selling due to its liking to premium octane fuel to drive something more fuel effient. What colour are you going to paint the 75 for my 73 from green to red as in the pic & a pic of the gas guzzler Ford.

I'm planning on making the car dark blue ( very dark ) or black. Haven't dicided yet :Do No:

very sharp of you to see those windows. They where square original. But when i took out hte glass i found out that the window's run all the way back. Soi fugurede that someone changed it. However after i took the pannel out i saw that is is was an original panel. However it was very rusty there ( other side aswell ) so i dicidede to make the windows run all the way back. I like that style more. Give's the car nicer lines :TU: More big coupe look

And for the gas prices . . . :af:

Hava a look http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/AutoLenard643.jpg

back them i payed 50 euro ( about 60/65 us $ ) for just 38 liters and the tank was just over half full :eek2:

right now a liter here cost's a much as gallon in the usa
that's why people drive all those tiny cars around here . . .
bag american cars are quite rare. however there's an way out of the gas prices. This option is autogas ( called LPG ( liquide petroleum gas ) )
this costs around 70 cents a liter. pertol costs 1.40 something diesel costs 1.10 around here. . . :Dou:
stupid goverment over here  :blast:

by the way that's a shame that you've sold that falcon. it looks really nice. I'm sure it drives just as nice as it looks.

Greetings Lennard

*edit * if u look closely u can see the price for a liter is 1.299 right now the price is around 1.40
so in a year time there 's been a 10 cent increase in price :af:

I had so much rust in the back half I did a trip into the USA to a Buick wreckers in Phoinex Arizona (Speedway Buick ) had them cut a back half off then drove the panel in a U haul van back to long beach California to ship back to Australia with the 82 collector Corvette I purchased in Gilroy CA.
Notice I"ve converted the Corvette from LHD to RHD so as to reg & drive on Australian rds. Also a pic of the old mans 75 Electra.

The car has been in the family since 1973 - I have stored it in a garage for the last 15 years - I started the car last year, no propblems at all - But there is some rust above the front fenders and rear wheel wells that I need to fix - I will also rebuild the brakes and complete all the mechanicals first before I start on the body. It will be a long project, but first thing is to get the car mechanically up to spec and running like a clock.

No only the panel was cut of the chassis & the bumper was cut of as well. The mtr is a Buick 350cu.

I drove the Vette for 2 years then sold it

I think the 70's Buicks are worth fixing up as most of the seventies Buicks are hard to come by nowdays & still stand out & have a classic look. My old 2003 XR8 is fast & does every thing including drinking 27L/100Kms of premium fuel around town but has not got a classic look about it & with fuel prices at $1.48L for premium fuel it costs over $100 Aus (approx$80 US) to run a week
Keep up the good work on your 75

have some of you out there got some tips to get it right.

Great car Lennard!

It's very unusually loaded for a Century. I have seen a picture of the interior in another thread and it looks like it's got most options, even Automatic Climate Control!
About your side windows, the covers were not aftermarket. There were two different rooflines on Century coupes, a more formal one available on the Century Custom model (like the Regal roofline) with small opera windows and a more slanted one with the large windows. It was also possible to order a Century with the slanted roofline and a vinyl top like this one with a partially covered large rear window, that's what you have. I had a 1976 Electra Limited coupe with a similar treatment. The rear window was partially covered by vinyl covered panels inside and by a vinyl top outside. This option on 1976 Electras was known as the "Landau Custom" option. What held the vinyl top in place was a fiberglass panel mounted above the window. Unfortunately, this often caused severe rust problems as water and dirt infiltrated under the vinyl roof...

Lennard

aha ok

thanx for explaining that issue with the rooflines :TU:
i think i will make the windows long. i think that it makes the lines of the car come out better and makes it look better

obout the options it;s got most options i think

- electric trunk relaese
- cruise control
- climat control ( ac )
- bucket seats
- sport steering wheel ( don't know is it's original )
- rally wheels
- sport mirrors
- console shifter
- power windows
- power seat ( drivers side only )

about the ac how can you tell it's a Automatic Climate Control ?
to me it looks like it's just an stock ac system ( however it's my first american car )

Greetings Lennnard

- sport steering wheel ( don't know is it's original )

This steering was available as an option on the 1975 Century and it should eb the original. It wasn't available in the full size models back then but I added one in my former '74 LeSabre as it looked better than the standard steering.
Do you have the matching horn cap that goes with it?
Here's a picture of it:

Automatic Climate control was a relatively rare option, even in the full size Buicks back then. It was available in the Century/Regal as an option from 1973 to 1975 and in 1976-77, it was replaced by a cheaper semi-automatic unit.

Both the manual and the semi automatic unit have a control panel with two horizontal levers and the blower speed control at the left while the automatic unit has the temperature setting dial at the left and one horizontal lever. When the horizontal lever in is the "AUTO" position, the blower speed and temperature control are fully automatic.

Here's a 1975 automatic a/c control panel from my Electra. The control panel is a bit different but the controls are in the same location as those in your car. http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/3113/0001351l4do.th.jpg (http://img171.imageshack.us/my.php?image=0001351l4do.jpg)

Here is the semi-automatic a/c control panel that replaced the fully automatic unit in 1976-77 in the Century, Regal, LeSabre and Estate Wagon models ('76 Estate Wagon shown). The temperature control is still automatic but the blower speed isn't.

Here is the more common manual a/c control panel (74 LeSabre shown).

but i'm about 30 minutes away from a holliday in Sweden.
i'm going to the big meet ( www.bigmeet.com (http://www.bigmeet.com) )
also there is a big yunkyard on the way there so i will go there and look for some hard to find trim ( including the horn button )

Lennard, You are a very big inspiration to me. I have to do the exact same thing to my '76 century if I want to keep it. Only problem I have is I don't have a welder/ or grinder, and I don't have metal cutting tools or any metal tooling, for that matter, to make custom patch panels and such, although if I can, I plan to do that in the near future, or maybe have a machine shop/metal shop make custom patches for me and have a good welder tack them right into place! I think most people who restore older cars should do this instead of parting out cars. If we all were to do this, we might not have to worry about the demise of such wonderful automobiles. My car is a total rustbucket, but I am such a good photographer, that you don't see the rust in my pics. :pp Good luck w/ the resto, and you've done excellent work so far, keep it up man! I love these '73-'77 A-Body Buicks!

Lennard. Very nice work so far! The large window was a collonade coupe, then you had the other "formal" window treatment models Regal etc. It was interesting to see that GM welded in plates for these cars. I did not know that as all of my 73's are Collonade coupes. LOL finding parts as they are super rare and no one repops them at this time. Trim for the rear windows are over $500 a pair if you can find them, etc. LOL with the car and keep us all updated, I love the 73-75 Centurys :3gears: :bglasses: :beer

thanx guys

i'm just back from my holiday in sweden.
there where around to 10.000 cars on the meeting and not even 1 century coupe :Do No:
very rare car i guess :TU:

i also went to one of the biggeste classic american car junk yard in europe
they also had a lot of other a body's ( le mans, olds 442, chevelle, ) but they had only one 73 century and one 76/77 century coupe's

the 73 one was in quite good shape only missing the hood, engine and tranny ( all cars over there had no engine in it ) and the right fenden and the rear bumper. . .

it once was a nice car
it was dark green mettalic with a white int and i suspect a 455 ( said the fender emblem ) was in it

since we where there very late 12.15 ( yard closed at 13.00 ) i didn't got to salvage much from the car but a qouterpanel ligcht ( side marker ) and my missing left rear wheelwell trim ( in perfect shape :eek2: )

i should have taken pics of it but because there was little time i kind of forgot it :Dou:
the complete car was in such a good shape. Even the trunk floor was still almost intact ( very few pinholes in it ) oly the rear wheelarches had a lot of rust on them. Also the front wheel weel was also in good shape ( no rust on the batery tray area

i also want a white int in my car and that one had a white int in quite good condition oly a bit dirty but complete
so i'm thinking about going back there and salvage some more stuff from it
however i don't know how much such an interior is worth and if it's worth the trouble to get it out of the car ( car was in a bad location lots of big bushes around it )

also at the meeting i found the paint chips of my car but i didn't bougt them
insted i've bought the paint chips for a 73 century since i want to repaint the car in midnight blue. and that color wasn't avaleble in 75

so it was a nice holiday and i gues that i will go back one day for the white interior and some other parts . . .

well guys

i've got some more new pics on the car
today i've been bussy with ( of course ) the right quarter panel.
althoug this one isn't a worse as the left one it does need quitte a lot of work also

today i made a patch panel for the lower part of the quarter behind the door and i've cut the old piece out and cleaned the area behind it.

here are the pics:

before :ball:

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/DSC00037.jpg

after welding a small patch on the inner and outher wheelwell
( not the best job :Dou: ) but i will get it straight with lead loading ( i hope :Dou: )

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/DSC00128.jpg

before cutting it out

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/DSC00129.jpg

after it was removed it showed olny surface rust. no rust trough ( except for the bottom of the wheelwell ) here are the pics

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/DSC00133.jpg

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/DSC00134.jpg

i also started grinding and blasting the rust of this panel. here are the pics of how it now looks

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/DSC00136.jpg

Also very BIG news :Brow:

I finnaly got my 455 :beer
and i must say what a great feeling to get my first american made big block
it absolutly felt great having it.
i've got it from a damaged 73 riviera with damage to the rear of the car.
when i first got it i spend the whole day making it a bit cleaner to work on.
i'm planning on first getting the valve covers gasket replaced and the oilpan gasket replaced. Also i will give it a tune up and a hei ignition system
I'm currently not planning on putting on performance parts but i suspect that that will change when the whole car is finished :Brow: :3gears:

or do you guys think i should also do other things to the engine ???

so that's what i've done this week

Ow wait almost forgot :spank: i've got some pics of the engine

currently i'm making the bottom end of the inner wheel arch fit and i hope that i can weld it in tommorow. When that's done i will start on the outer panels.

also i've got some small work to do on the engine ( the 455 :Brow: ) like gaskets and giving it a nice colour ( org buick red ofcourse )
then i will mock it up where it's suposed to sit when the car is finished

Lennard,

A '75 Buick 455 should be painted metallic blue, probably the same color as your current Buick 350. I had mine rebuild a month ago and I couldn't find the correct color in engine paint since this color was used only one year.
I had a spray can of base coat done in a similar color and they used it to do the final coat over the GM blue engine paint that was less expensive.

my 350 was indeed blue/green ( difficult colour )
but my 455 came from a 73 and should there for be red
and 75 century's were never build with the 455. They oly came with that engine in 73 and 74

and i find a red block better looking

Well lately i've been busy again
i've had some small stuff done to the engine like gaskets and freeze plugs
also i've blasted some pully's and the valve covers since they were a bit rusty
also i've had my timing chain off and decided to replace that also
i also cleaned the timing cover ( in the dishwasher  )

I've also cut out a iece of the wheel arch on the right side because i thougt that there would be rust behind it since the sealent used between the inner and outer arch was dry rotted and had a bit a rust colour on it

when i got the piece out to my surprise there wasn't hardly any rust.
Only a bit where they meet ( inner arch and qoutere panel ) but i already was planning to replace that piece. Ive done that yesterday and it came out fine ( not completly done since i've got some more work to do on the inner wheel arch )

and offcourse i've got some pictures off it quite a lot actualy
24 to be right

First some pics off the engine appart

that one is good to replace . . .

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/64689f3f.jpg

Some stuff in the timing cover off the 455
that's what made me dicide to get the freeze plugs out and flush the engine.
When i had them out there was hardly any sort of dirt or so in the engine
so that was quitte a relieve to me

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/60aed34c.jpg

Does anyone know where i can get these plugs and what size they are ???

You can see here the part thet i cut out
i've done this to make sure there waren't any rust holes in the inner wheel arch.
As you can see only the bottom where it meets the quarter is needed to be replaced. Iv'e done this yesterday
here are the pics off it

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/DSC00248.jpg

hey guys

got some more ( bad ) work done
i've welded some more metal temporarly in place to check if they would fit.
witch they didn't.

i'll show you the pcs off it and what tell what í've done te get it right

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/DSC00259.jpg

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/DSC00260.jpg

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/DSC00261.jpg

it's clear to see what the problems are
the panels i've made don't line up right
but where was the mistake? wat the panel cut to short ?
or was the other panel made to long ?

well to tell story . . .
you can see it on the next pics

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/DSC00269.jpg

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/DSC00268.jpg

hmm a bit wrong

but there's more

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/DSC00267.jpg

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/DSC00266.jpg

It comes down to this: i've made the panel on the front ( by wheel ) 2 cm to short and the rear about 1 cm to short

so i welded al small piece of metal in place of 1 cm at the rear and 2 on the front

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/DSC00264.jpg

witch looked a bit better but still not quitte 100 % since the other panel doesn't line up correct. Since the other panel is to complicated to make ( again ) i figured to make a other panel wich was bigger and would fit in lpace.
but i found an other problem . . .

this :

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/DSC00265.jpg

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/DSC00270.jpg

i've welded this panel in qoutte badly since i was borred then. But the problem is yhat the trunk exstantion is bended and to short ( and the welding doen wasn't to be called good ) also it was to far to the outside welded so the panel doesn't line up with the others.

:Dou:

**** happens . . .

right now i'm also gonna cut out the trunk exstantion and make sure that it all will fit 100% together

yep it's a big learning proces for me
my firts real restoration

Gee mate you don't want to take to many jobs on at once. The job you are doing with the Buick is bigger than Ben Hur. The Mk11 Capri good choice. My son has a MK1 70 fitted with 302V8 Windsor & 9inch. Has two different bonnets for the car & wheels to make it a stocker looking or tough street.

mainly because i've had a few minor setbacks in my live ( problems at school, To much work on a daily te get it running ) that have taken a lot of time.

but now i can again seem to find more time to work on my great car
lately i've been busy with the rear quarter panel and corrected my mistakes
also i've finnished almost all the welding on the lower area.

currently i'm busy working on the pannels surounding the right quarter window since these are all quitte rotten ( gee big surpise  )

also i've got a secondhand edelbrock performer intake from don ( fastest430 ) :TU:

Once the sheet metal is done, I will then completed the paint and body work from there.

hey guys

i've been very busy that day
here are some more pics of some of the work that i've done

Ive welded in the panels for checking them ( the bodylines and fitment of the panels )
also i've welded in the little corner piece that wasn't in yet.

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/DSC01088.jpg

i have to modify the 3rd panel ( closest to the door ) sisnce the curvature in the panel is a bit to low compered to the rest off the lines of the car and the other panels.
Also if you look closely you can see the small fold in the 3rd panel is wat tou sharp compare with the original line of the car in it goes downwards ( way to much )

so these things need te be soleven before the panels can ben welded in for good

by the way the next day is got a bit ill because off the welding fumes

Lennard,

Remember that a lot of board members are stil using a dail-up connection.
You are using Photobucket to upload your photos, so I reckon it's a good idea to link the thumbnails in your album, and not the full size photos if you want to show more than just one single image.

This thumbnail is just 3839 bytes, click on it an you will get the 800 x 600 (200000+ bytes) photo:

Lennard I admire your work and your patience. Here in the USA there are very few body men that will do the kind of work you are doing and probably 75% of those will not take the time to do it right.

What ever happened to your Capri? My first car was a 77 Capri Ghia. They inported them here from 1970-1977. I had a lot of fun in that car. I took my drivers test in it, drove it everywhere and had a bunch of parties in it. The hatchback was roomy when you put the rear seats down :Brow: Got away from the cops twice in it. Mine was a 2.8 V6 4 speed with a sun roof. Great engine but the rest of the car was not so good. In 2003 I decided I would pick one of my two cars to restore. I chose my Skylark and the Capri went to ebay. I got into Buicks because I wanted a winter beater so the Capri wouldn't see the snow and salt. You can see my second car and my first Buick in the background. I bought the Skylark for $125 from the guy across the street.

Good luck with your Century. I bet it will be sweet. :beer

pfff,
long time ago since i've posted some progress here
well i've been out off the running for 6 weeks ( holiday to australia :moonu: )
before i went there i've put the body of the car in epoxy primer to prevent it from rusting.

when if got back from my little holiday, i've maneged to seperate the body from the chassis
so now it's truly a body off
at this time i'm busy removing undercoating and maken the underside nice and clean
i am also thinking about what to do with the chassis ( in terms of suspension and bushings and stuff ) at the moment. It's all gonna be replaced anyway or restored.

here are some pics off the car in epoxy and with the body off the chassis

Lennard, two questions:
1. I saw the word "Boven" written in magic marker on a piece of sheet metal. What does that mean?

2. What is the black paint like stuff you are using under the sheet metal? Looks like POR 15 to me.

Keep up the good work.

Lennard
11-29-2007, 09:54 AM
the word means that it's te top side of the panel
it's written in dutch ( i"m dutch by the way :Smarty: )

The black panit is indeed por15

curently i'm busy with scraping off the undercoating of the body of the car :boring:

currently i've got all the undercoating off the car and i'm just cleaning the residu off the underside off the car
also i've found quitte a lot of pinholes where the exhaust used to be
however i can't see tru the floor so it must be double plates ( pain in the ass to replace )
i'm also finnishing off some of the more early weld's that i've done in the trunk ( witch aren't so great ) and just some other boring work like cleaning

I'm very impressed with your work. You tackle jobs in a systematic way taking logical steps. I like the way you combine small patches into complex panels. The work around the rear windows is really impressive since there wasn't much left of the original to replicate.

When you're finished you'll know this car is rust free and has some protection against future rust. Unfortunately corrosion protection wasn't a priority with cars of this era. As you found, the area under the rear window and under the cowl didn't have any paint or primer at all. The interior received a dusting of primer and paint, but nothing like the solid coat you gave it.

Once you have the body fixed your way you can turn your focus to the mechanicals knowing body work won't be required for a long time.

Amazing work. Thanks for sharing with us.

Hey remy that looks great
what has it got under the hood ?

That junkyard is this one http://www.bildelarosby.se/

The middle one has the onder type´s of cars laying around

By the way they only had one 73 regal and a 76 4 door if i remeber correctly
but they had a lot of other 73/77 abody laying around ) olds 442 pontiac lemans that kind of stuff

But what are you looking for ?

Remy
03-02-2008, 03:39 PM
Hello,
Thank you for the junk yard. It's a little bit far but interesting. I don't know how the green 73 century is on the front side...

It's a 350ci engine inside.
The car is coming from belgium (general motors continental antwerpen) and came in France in 1983. Then the car spent 10 years in a junk yard and since 1993 the car is mine. It was red and I find the blue color underneath, so I repainted it using its original color.
I'm looking for the two head lamps with chrome bezel and tail lights (right and left), they are melted, and the plastic parts around are broken. The rear bumper had been cuted, I will weld it and rechrome otherwise if I can find one... the job is easier.
Do you have any pictures of your century now? You did a very good job.

Greetings Remy

One litre of petrol is 1.04 £, so that's 3.785 * 1.04 = 3.93 £ for 1 US gallon
3.93 £ = 7.89 US$

@ ubushaus

nope this isn't my daily job
just my first restoration type of job, I've had some other experience with some other cars that came along while i had my Buick

on the other hand the car is far from being straight as an arrow or anything near it. so by now i know i'm not the body type of guy even though i can weld in decent patch panels and stuff :pp

and i know it will be a pain in the :moonu: to get it straight again also since on panel had damage before and you don't even have to look for buick parts here in holland ( especially 'unwanted' mid 70's cars )
and even if you find them there probably just as rusty :puzzled:

you are spot on with taking 3/8 out of the frame mounts for the motor.that is the exact measurement to take off of them if you want the motor to sit correctly in your car.most people use the big buick frame mounts and say motor sits right but they are wrong.the frame mounts for a 73-74 century regal are exactly 3/8 lower than the ones for a big buick.great job.

i had a buddy of mine cut 3/8 out of the mounts because i had the same problem fitting the motor in mine.it sat to high,i have know idea how other guys do it,but this is the correct way.trying to find mounts from a 73-74 regal or century with a 455 is like getting struck by lightning.anyways great job again.i also have a 75 century for parts if your maybe looking for something.

mine is completely rusted thru :Dou:

i know a yard that has a bumper for my car but re chroming it over here will cost me ( to ) much money ( think in terms of like 800$ a piece :eek2: )

and a right wheel well would be welcome as well. Mine is almost to far gone to fix it since i've only got the outer lines left
and i could use the bumper fillers that are under the lights and in the middle if they're not cracked

I'm thinking of abandoning this project since i've found this car
its basically the same car though but without the warped panels and it's supposed to be rust free though.

My idea is that i can have a car then that i can first restore mechanically since i've got plenty parts left then from the other one. And than leter i can have the bodywork done maybe even myself since it looks to be pretty straight
and a big + is that it's a original GS if i remember right ( only 1200 something made )

but will go to have a look first this Saturday and then think it over since i must scrap the body or/and chassis of the other one :ball: ( no space for it though )

Wow, that looks great. At the moment you´re nearly at the same point as I am on my 57 Bel Air. All you´ve done was hard and dirty work. Now you can go on with the "fun part". Putting the rebuilt, repainted or reconditioned stuff together with nice new parts. Ohh man, I like it.
Very impressive sheet metal work. You will love this car. Ohh, I´m nearly sure you did before you strated this project. If not, you wouldn´t do it like that. Great job.

Here is a real '75 Century Gran Sport that is for sale in Orlando Fla. It is a very loaded car with a built up '70 455 and Stage 1 TH400 trans and a 3.73 posi rear for $5K. It even has the original paint but needs a redo. The inside is in beautiful shape.

These are very interesting cars and the last year for the GS. The eng/trans isn't original to this car,of course. It is a very stout running car.Lots of Kenne-Bell parts in the engine. I like the color combo but just have too many other things going on to try and buy this one.It is very tempting, though. It has tilt, cruise, rallye gages,p.windows,p.trunk,6 way driver seat,a/c. All of the plastic interior trim is excellent. The guy is even throwing in a pair of the plastic chrome trim that goes on the 1/4 glass, which are quite rare.

just imagine what a little paint would do to it

Currently i'm working on my chassis and putting the things al together and stuff
I'm only having some small trouble getting parts here on time since i'm going on holiday in 2/3 weeks for quitte a long time

But most of the parts are here finally

In the meanwhile the rear shocks are also in ( red koni's same as the front ) and the rear sway bar is mounted.
however i've currently installed the old spring on the rear since the new ones aren't here yet ( i'm in holland for those of you that didn't know) The same goes for the whole rear end. The new bolts aren't in aswell. So at this stage the rear is only on teh car to make it moveable since i need the space to store my other car while i'm on holiday to australia
Only things left to do is to put the fuel and brakelines in and then i can mount the body on the car and leave it till about half a year or so

Hey guy's
My 'holiday' in Australia took a bit longer then the 6 planned months
i was there for almost 2 years but back home now since 3 weeks and of course i started working on my big Buick again.

I've been working on getting the fenders and door rust free, this took me quite some time and at the moment I've put the car together for the first time since i have it ( 6 years or so ) to see if all the metal lines up properly. If al the little faults are out of them i'm gonna send them of to media blasting or a paintstriping bath (Logen in dutch, don't know what that's called in english to be honest )
After that it's gonna be build up time and time to make it straight as an arrow hopefully.I already know that's gonna take a lot of time since the rear quarters and doors aren't very straight. But will see how it goes.

Here are some pics of fixing the door's fenders and a trail assembly of the cars sheetmetal

Got my panels dipped in a paint removing bath ( not acid but the opposite )
and have some pictures of it
and of some of the fabrication of the front wheel wells that needed some repair.
It was quite a shame the the bath didn't get all the rust of the panels so i had the edges sandblasted to get rid of the rust on them.
must admit that the parts aren't to badly dented and stuff. The hood only has 2 small dent's in it and the trunk 1 and after blasting 1 small hole on the inside. 1 door is pretty straight ( apart from where i've been welding ) and the other door is quitte bad. Lots of dents around the door handle ( deep ones aswell:rant: ) The fenders are both pretty decent aswell

After the blasting i've put them in epoxy primer myself on the inside.
also several small holes appeared again in the botom of the doors and at some parts off the fenders after the blasting.
Looks like i have to do a little bit more welding then :puzzled:

here are the pics :3gears:

I've been working on the engine a bit and have just ordered some parts for it.
it's just gonna be a mild 455, with T/A headers, edelbrock dual plane intake and a 260H cam from comp cams and stage 1 fuel pump and a reworked Q-jet.
Dos anyone have any guess how much Hp such a combination would be ?

The car is gonna go to the painter in december and my goal is to have it running and be able to move under it's own power before that.

How did you guys do it with the dipstick and the headers ?

Hey guy's it's been a while.

I DROVE MY CENTURY !!!!!!!!

i've got the 455 in after a good struggle with the headers ( hitting chassis. starter, and crossmember ) and some other stuff
I've been busy just fitting everything in the engine bay to make the engine runable.

I've ran the cam in and it just sounds mean with only the headers.
Here's a video of me driving the car up and down the driveway

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/buick/th_003-1.jpg (http://s21.photobucket.com/albums/b261/member170/buick/?action=view&current=003-1.mp4)

fisrt time i drove it out of the shed and back in i kinda noticed a fair bit of power dispite running very rich
it left 2 20 inch marks on the driveway at just a stab at the throttle :3gears: :3gears: ( bad idea actually with no seats )

cant wait for it to go to the paint shop and start finishing it and driving it

ow and bought a new daily driver aswell ( ford capri with 2.9 v6)

Regards Lennard
