If you're talking gas, you'd be looking at 7:1 - 8:1compression. Alcohol is really good with the roots style blowers...has a cooling effect on the rotors. You'd want more compression with the alcohol setup, though. Are you thinking of a 6-71 or 8-71??

basically i was asking about effectiveness i got a 70 455 .30 over is that too much comp. for a 8-71? looking at flow characteristics..
maybe in future plans!! hood clearance is a huge issue in New
Hampshire no more than 4 inches can be sticking out of the hood
(live in a messed up state) want something different got the offy dual quad manifold on the block right now wanna go a little more drastic!!:Brow:

Check out the latest issue of Car Craft. They have a great article on roots and centrifical superchargers. Your 70 engine will have to much compression to run a blower, but an 8.5:1 engine could run up to 7pounds of boost.

Roots style blowers definately have the 'look'!! But, as far as practicality and especially hood clearance issues, they may not be the best choice. If you were building a 'trailer queen', it'd be great. But, since your laws don't go for much above the hood line, a centrifugal SC might be the best option.

I think the best way to go is "intercooled boost", such as what ATI offers with the Procharger. If you need more info on these, just ask Kerry S. or others on the board that are/will be using these. Non-intercooled boost just heats the air up too much to run any kind of serious boost and power!!

Just my thoughts on this,

you can get an intercooler for a roots blower from BDS you can get away with 5or6 psi boost on 9-10to 1 compression(we put a centrifical blower on a mustang wih this compression BIG DIFFERENCE) as for the hood issue just buy a big big scoop put it on with dzus fasteners and take it off for shows and racing if you change to a blower and want to unload that daul quad stuff let me know

Hi Guys,

Here's a photo of my D3-M Procharger w/ a ruler to show the inlet size of this puppy!

Yep, that's a FULL 5" of inlet diameter!!! The outlet is 4" and this BIG boy measures 13.5" in total diameter, will push 2900CFM at 36psi of boost turning 56,000RPM!!:Brow:

I think the results are phenomenal. The response is so quick on just a V-6, you can bet that on a V-8 it is earth stopping. Take a new Regal GS out on a road test-I bet you'll be surprised how well these cars run.
