Can anyone tell me where i should buy my windshield. Can i still buy them from the local glass shops or do i have to buy it aftermarket?
My car is a 1970 GS- Antenna built in and is tinted.

Thanks, Gary

Your local glass shop should have them for about $180 to $250 installed.

Seriously? I hope for my sake you are right. I just broke another one trying to remove it tonight! :ball: I bought a pneumatic knife and I was being so careful not to break this one I believe it was the original and I assumed it would be difficult to find a used one. I'll call a good glass shop and ask them if they can help me.

Eric, I have purchased several windshields in the past few years. I have one for sale for $50 bucks with 2 tubes of sealer for installation. It is a new one that I had put in and the next day the "Paint Rep" was helping out the body man and ran the sander onto the glass just enough to put a minor scratch in the upper area of the window (hard to notice unless you are picky like me). Since it was brand new the shop owner had the "paint rep" pay to replace it for me.

Mine is a '73, but thanks for the offer.

I called the local glass shop and they want $190 installed and they will come out to the house so that's cool.

I checked out Pilkington Glass (pilkingtonclassics.com) they sell glass for classics and they will reproduce the original date code. My car was not listed on the website so I called them. I was intrigued by the "date code" thing. The guy said they normally don't sell for the '73 Buick because the glass is still in production. That's ok because I don't care about the date code that much.

OK, so Mike was right and I can relax now. :beer

The two companies that originally made glass for our cars were LOF and PPG. Most were LOF. I requested an LOF from my local glass dealer a few years ago because it was original. When they installed it it said made in Mexico on the glass! :af: The tinted blue portion up top was about right however and the antenna wires in the glass were the correct distance apart. One of these days I will just etch out the made in MEX. The PPG replacements I have seen have a much larger top blue portion and the antenna wires are much closer together than original. But they were made in the USA at least a few years ago. Pilkington were never used on our cars. At least not Through 72. Take your pick!

Dave,

I had mine installed by Giant Glass for 200.00$ even. I was disapointed about the antenna connection because it did not not a connector just a bare wire.
I am going to somhow reuse the little boot and resolder.
