We all need some inspiration, motivation, goals defined, and sometimes a good ole' kick in the a** to get ourselves going sometimes. Well, in Norwalk Wild Bill and I decided we need to finish our projects and drive them to the BCA nats in Seattle WA next year!

Wild Bill is working on an Awesome '66 Wildcat GS with a 455, Headers, Gear Vendors OD, the last set of 3.91 Buick gears on the planet, white w/black bucket seat interior!

I'm working on the Black w/ Red Interior '65 Wildcat Custom, Nailed 425 w/ Buick X code aluminum intake dual quad 5-speed 3.42:1 gears! Some Pix! (http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=64180)

Let the challenge begin! I don't think Bill has any pics of the White One up here yet...Any progress to report?

Good idea guys. Especially since WILDCATS RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heres my last pic of my 69 quarter installation...well...half quarter. I'll take pics of the whole mess this week. Unlike your cars, mine won't be very nice. But I've come to the conclusion that waiting 20 years from now to afford the resto sucks, so its gonna hit the road this year as a black primer and flamed "rat". I promise not to butcher anything though, so someday it will be original looking. Although I am considering adding another power antena to the pass side.

Scott- I had some rims done by Wheels! (http://www.rallyamerica.com/) Rallyamerica.com in Ca. Gary is the guy's name. 559-322-2128. He is hard to get a hold of but the ONLY guy that I know of that has the stuff to do them. I cannot figure out why its so hard to chrome a dad gum wheel! But it is and he is the guy.

A friend of mine has a red 66. Here is a video of him cruising his Wildcat. It is not nailhead powered but is Buick powered. Click on the link below. Hope this motivates you a little.

Your Welcome Scott!

Ok, Status report on my Wildcat:
Body: paint done, chrome done not all installed yet. All the windows and regulators have to be installed. I want to convert to power windows, so I have ot knock out the spot in the door and jamb for that (without destroying the black paint!!!) I've got to figure out where to get the rubber material that holds the vent windows in the frame-

Interior; Have to send door panels off to SMS for color change. Get material for seats. Dye a dashpad. paint all the other interior bits....I had a black dash all ready to install. better dedo that in red.

Engine. Decision! I have one built, but thats when the car was going to be an automatic and have a Q-Jet carb set up. Now the intake will be the X-Code Buick Aluminum job, so the engine has to be fancier, right! So, I have to build an engine bottom end to match the top end :TU: LW Block(check)Ross pistons (check) Carmen heads (check) Balance w/Billet flywheel.

Biggest bugger is to get the transmission into the car- big hole to be cut, then new hump in place. Then the hydraulic clutch hook up challenge.

Pictures to follow, I promise.

I finsihed the welding on the driver side quarter last night. :Dou: lotsa work!!

Floydsbuick
06-28-2006, 05:08 PM
Besides the half quarter, a 69 LeSabre four door gave up its floor. I cut it at the spot welds at the toeboard, halfway in between the seat brace, and at the rockers above the frame. This way, you can look under it and not notice I put a floor in.

Floydsbuick
06-28-2006, 05:09 PM

Walt, i will most likely modify my cleaner and drill nickle sized holes just outside and around the filter element in the base so that i will have basically an open element. It will be drawing hot air off the top of the motor but it should not affect performance too much....motor should run cool on pump gas:3gears:

I got mine recored for $145.00 I found this old timer who after many many shops that said that "NEVER SAW ONE LIKE THAT BEFORE" or They would try and sell me on one that I would have to do all kinds of plumbing to make it work. I don't know what is so different about them except for the top neck and the bottom neck being different from most cars :puzzled: . But when I just happened to see this little Radiator shop one day and I pulled in and asked if he could help me he said no problem! Before I could tell him what it was for he told me what car it was for. Now that is a man that knows his trade! I have had mine now for over a year and no problems at all ("knock on wood")He is semi-retired now but still does work at his home shop, So if I ever need to get mine repaired or recored he has given me his home number and said he would help me out! But I am too use his number very sparingly. I went crazy looking for a place and I end up finding someone by pure luck and also for a great price! :beers2: God sure does work in weird ways!

Kimson......you have to have nice cores. You are in Cali where the chance of finding these parts are much higher. The better you start with the better you end up with... Don't want these pieces to be the only crappy die-cast on the car.
Here's a pair that a V8 member sent me from Illinois....and NO the screw holes are NOT original.
These parts were almost never worth saving from a mid-west car......

Kimson.....you have to remove the inner rear door panels and then the glass to get at the screws and be able to take the lower stainless window trim off. Once that is done you have to peel the rear of the driprail moulding up and away from the car....only then can you unhook the moulding and remove it from the drip rail it's lipped into......

BIG MONEY $$ waiting for a perfect pair

Milled the GV adapter's trans mount pads down the thickness of two shims and then added them with the new NOS mount so that i will have some adjustment in the down direction to dial in the right driveline angles and alignment.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d167/TOPCAT66/IM000480.jpg

After putting a straight edge across the back face of the adapter and seating the transfer hub fully on the trans output shaft.....you take the supplied round shims and use just enough to fill the gap made by the ruler and the hub edge.....put them in the end of the hub and they take up the end play between the trans and the overdrive

Hmm... I wonder what yard that ended up in? I've seen movie cars previously in the yards around here, and by looking at the nature of the area of where the car flips over, I'd say it would have been shot in SoCal.

Adam, did your car have the deluxe interior, with the chrome ceiling trim? The car in the show appears to miss that trim on the dirver's side.

OK thanks.... there are a few other Buick events around that period of the summer:
= Riviera Owners Association (June 21-24, 2010. Hershey/Harrisburg PA)
= BCA Nationals (July 24 - 31, 2010 Ames, IA)

The last one has an overlap with BPG Nationals, but distance and other plans for my road trip (have to finish in TX 2 weeks later) forces me to make a choice.
Doing my road trip in a Cat makes the BPG event my first choice (if the Wildcat Challenge is on)
