Just to start this is about a 69 wildcat.

The rims i have currently are 16X8.5, custom made so i sont really want to buy another pair to get bigger tires.

im going to have to have a new axle made, so i will center the rim in the wheel well.

i have about 13.5" of room between frame and fender lip at the smallest point where the tire could contact, but i have 2 questions:

What is the biggest size that you would recommend fitting on a 16X8.5" rim, and can you find them, because ive tried and got nothing!?
-and-
it is accurate speed reading with 28" tires with 3.07's, how tall would i need to go to keep it accurate with 3.50's? somebody who is good at math will have to do this for me :Dou:

thanks much

So i need a 32" tire to get the speeds to be the closest (only off by .2 mph, not bad!)

and a 315/65R16 is 32.12 tall, making it .3 mph fast, still dont mind.

so now 2 more questions:

will a 315 fit on my 8.5" rim?
-and-
where casni find a 315/65R16 tire with matching front, sized something like 215/50R15?

matching is not a must, but it would help. i have looked all over for tires and my eyes are starting to get tired of searching the internet!

thanks
