View Full Version : Oil Canister for 1955 Century
I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find a diagram of the oil canister. Mine is leaking and it looks like there may be some sort of gasket or O ring where the bolt seats against the canister. A diagram may help me to determine how to take it apart, and what I need to do to keep it from leaking. Thanks for anyone who can help.

Funny you mention this. I was dealing with the same problem last night. That canister design is the most rediculous thing I have ever seen. I pissed about two quarts of oil on the floor :af:
The O ring doesn't seal for sh|t. I ordered a spin on adapter from d500dave off of eBay. Scroll down in this 'classic buicks' section and you'll find his direct website link etc. The canister is garbage.
If anyone out there has a trick to the canister sealing, please let me know too. Otherwise the 55 will sit and wait for the spin on. :blast:
Thanks Matt
It really is a weird part, unfortunately I wanted to take it to a Buick Show Saturday and don't have time to order a spin on. The canister is funky but has a better gasket where the lip of the canister meets the block than my 59 Vet. It's that bottom part around the bolt that's giving me all the problems. I don't even know how to take it apart. It looks like there is some sort of snap ring on the inside but I can't seem to remove it.
