I'm trying to finish up a 72 350 swap in a buddy's 87 regal, and the car is a former sbc race car, and the previous owner hacked up the wiring harness that comes out of the firewall near the brake booster. I need some help identifying the following wires:

-a fairly big pink one (approx. 12 guage)-?
-a fairly big black one with a purple tracer-?
-a small white or grey wire with a pink or red tracer (approx.16 guage) ?
-a small dark green one-?
-a medium sized red one with a fusible link and an eye attatched, about a 3/16 hole-?
-a fairly large sized purple one - Starter wire?
-2 red ones joined at the end by a big eye- pretty sure these go to starter main?

also, since it's a 72 engine, it had a points distributor, which i converted to a pertronix electronic. How do i wire this up in regards to the coil?

how do i wire up the 72 alternator? is this internal or external regulator?

do buick distributors rotate clockwise or counter?

THanks for any help you can give. :TU:

Real quick. Distributor turns clockwise. If the Alt is internally regulated, it'll match the Regals plug.

Some stuff to add:

Wiring diagrams for the G body (Regal/Malibu/Cutlass/GP) can be found here:

Here's the ignition system showing your pink wires:

...and the ignition switch:

That should cover your wiring bundle. :TU:
