View Full Version : Buick 455 in a Gbody Cutlass

I just picked up a very nice '86 Olds Cutlass with a very weak 307. I found a local deal on a nice Buick 455. Being a Buick guy :), I am thinking of making this my new project.

I am assuming this will be the same as swapping this engine into a gbody Regal. Where would I get the brackets to make the a/c, alt, and ps to work? Would the brackets off the Olds work? What about the brackets from an '86 Buick GN motor (is the front cover and such similiar to the V6?).

My goal is to not make this a race car, but a very nice driver.

TIA

Olds brackets on the Buick engine? Nope.
V-6 brackets on the 455? Well......a long time ago there was a nice write up in the GSXtra that showed a 455 Regal. The article said the V-6 brackets work on the 455. Bolting them to the block will require standard bolts instead of metric. Good luck with your project :TU:

Thanks. I think the GN serp belt system would be neat on it.

Don't know about the brackets off of any EFI V6 (GN included) but the 3.8L/4.1L NA carbed V6 brackets work. That's what I used on my car. Don't try to use the carb/turbo bracket setup, it didn't mount right. (I think it either hit the hood or had one of the accessories in the wrong spot.)
