choke stuck

Help guys. This TQ is going to be the death of me. I have a few other posts on what has been going on but what i have done is upgraded my 455 with a TQ. I put a new 1" closed spacer on it and mounted it. But then i noticed that my choke plate wasn't opening up all the way when i pulled down on the idle screw. It only opened about a 1/4 of the way. I figured it was just because it was cold but it just didn't feel right. I fired her up and tried to adjust the idle the best i could get her was about 1200 which was way too high. after she warmed up i adjusted the other idle screw and same result. but then i pushed on the plate to open it up and it finally settled down but it won't stay that way. and i really have to push it hard to open up the choke. I can't see anyplace this thing is getting stuck and it is a fresh rebuild. Any ideas anyone?

Just shot putt that baby my way! Buicks may run better with Q/Jets but that's not been my experiance. Unhook all the linkage that goes to the choke, both sides of the carb and see if the choke still sticks. If not hook up one thing at a time until you have trouble again.

I have a similar problem with my holley - I'm not sure, but I think the air horn (if I'm using the correct word) is slightly bent or warped. I don't know if it can easily be fixed. If you're lucky, it'll be linkage as Dave suggested.
