Hello,
Does anybody know where you mount the alternator bracket when installing the Meziere electric water pump? The unit that I have is a chrome finish and the bolts are recessed in the unit.
Thank you,

I use a stock non ac alternator bracket along with the stock top bracket. The alternator is a HD from summit. In the past tried running w/o one and saw a marginal difference. It was more of a pain getting a dead battery on the line or low voltage for the 7al box. Since having the alternator back in those problems are now history. Regarding a mini race style...well right now it's not worth the cost to benifit factor to me.
Anyway the shot attached shows it. And I go through the eyes at 6700 RPM's and have NOT thrown a belt at all...not even once. There might be different set-ups, this one works well for me with a very low cost.

I used a "flathead" allen bolt which is tapered on the bottom of the head where it transitions to the threads. Therefore I countersunk it into the bracket for a flush mount.
If you knew someone that was real creative w/ a Bridgeport they could machine the waterpump so the bracket actually has a notch to fit into also.....that's a whole different ballgame but details like that are what sets cars apart from one another.

Rick and Gary,
Thank you for your ideas. I think that I will weld a bolt onto the bolt that came with the Meziere pump and just use the stock alternator bracket. Maybe that would be a good addition to the kit from Meziere.
Thanks again!

For the top alterntor bracket with the Mezierre pump, I simply made a spacer to fit in the recess of the pump, then used a slightly longer bolt to go through the bracket and the spacer and the pump. Jim Burek

Jim,
That would work too. Sounds like something that I saw at my local Lowes store. I knew someone had the answer. Thank you guys!

p.s. Jim, thank you for faxing the information to MSD. They are going to send me a reconditioned unit for $85.00. Better than the $600 for a new one.

Rick,
If you want to swing by I'll pull the hood off the Yellow car and let you see how I mounted mine.:)

Jerry,
I will take you up on that. How did you mount yours?
Tonight I bought a spacer and a stud that should thread into the water pump housing. I will use a spacer, then a jam nut (I think that is what it is called), then the alternator bracket, then the outer lock washer, and nut.
We'll see, I first have to put together the sand blasting booth.:pp
