Rob,
Which junkyard did you go to? I have had a hard time trying to find anything older than 1985 in the Chicagoland area.
The only score I found was at a junkyard in Aurora a few months back... a complete 1969 Riv with a cracked 430 block and a 1964 F85 4 door with slight rust through on the floor. Both cars had just been brought in during the week. I went on a Friday when no one was around and got a few parts. Had to leave because I didn't have the right tools. By the time I made it back on Saturday morning by 8AM, there were guys crawling all over them and both cars were about stripped to the bone. Guess there's something to that early bird gets the worm story.

Chuck,
I went to Victory Auto Wreckers, 710 E. Green st. Bensenville, IL. Just up the road from me. They have a dozen old cars/trucks at a time, not to mention the ones sitting in the processing area. (the area your not allowed in but the cars are still preserved, once the cars leave their they are done for) Mainly late model cars and trucks but it makes it easier to pick out the older stuff. My advice, wear boots because if the sun hasn't reached a patch of dirt, its still mud. :Brow: Free admission to the junkyard too.
Randy,
I'm going back tomorrow, I'll bring a camera too if it doesn't end up being a hassle to carry around. :TU:

Thanks, Rob! I haven't been to Victory in about 20 years. I remember they picked up my sister's 74 Lesabre after she cracked the 455 block in the mid-80's.
You know the money they flash to the guy to pickup his 70's impala after the door falls off in the commercial? It's all one dollar bills and it's about 20 bucks worth. I remember that's all they offered me for my sister's car. (By the way... that commercial has been playing unchanged since the late 70's/early 80's).

Yea the commercial is famous. They don't pay much for cars.
Went back today and forgot the digital image maker. :Dou: Right as I got there they moved the car off the top of the 1976 Skylark, Nice! Easier work. Grabbed a set of armrests for a board member and set of remote sport mirrors and power window switch. I made a mistake on the model, it was a Skylark S/R. All for $35. They also told me they are supposed to go and pick up a 1969 Buick Electra, no idea if its a 2dr 4dr or vert. They said it was an older mans that had died. I will be going back as often as I can this week to make sure im first to find it. :Brow:
The 1975 Century was even worse since yesterday, the roof was smashed in, all windows blown out. The hood release wasn't working so I kicked the grille in and still had no luck getting to the cable. (Buick antitheft worked against me) Next time I'll be sure to have a crowbar for any other car that has a non-opening hood.

Hi Rob. I noticed you have a 73 Electra 225. I just got the 455 motor off an exact same car. I am having it rebuilt. I was wondering if there were any specific things to look out for on that specific motor.

its a pity postage is so dear from USA to Oz. Some front arm rests of a 76 Electra limited woud be ace. Plus the speedo. The one (car) we are about to buy just had its conversion to km/h.
