View Full Version : front fender INNER supports
I have four (count em, four)70-72 fenders sitting here that could easily be repaired with patch panels, but the INSIDE aft support is also rotted away. There is no repair kit for this that I know of, would certainly save a few more fenders if it were available. could probably be made up by a competant metal working guy, but if they were pressed would be better (and cheaper) I think...
Any market for this??

I'd buy a few for sure, your core support kit worked nice....

Hi Tim,I've fixed several fenders with this problem by using this method.I found a wasted non fixable fender[rusted and collision damage]and cut sections out of the inner fender brace in other locations [ higher up than the rust]Each inner brace has enough material to patch several lower sections on rusted fenders.Works great in a pinch but hopefully MG can repro a patch panel for us. P.S. don't cut up a fixable fender for the brace MAKE SURE THE DONAR FENDER IS NON-REPAIABLE as fenders are getting hard to locate.

Mike,
I'm sure I could make them, and for a reasonable price. Let me know. I have been thinking of doing these for GS's and 442,s. Duane
Duane, if you make them, please post when available....
Thanks
Tim

TimR,
Let me know how much of your fender braces are rotted. I figure your's are the worst case because you live in Canada. (Lots of salt.) Give me a measurement from the body crease below the emblems to the last bit of solid metal. This will let me know how high to make the patch panels. The higher the part needs to be the more costly to make.
Duane
Sorry Duane, thought this thread had died.....I think it would be best to go right to the body crease, then no worries about getting too close...any idea on probable cost???
Thanks
Tim

Duane,
I'm working on a drivers side fender now. I don't know what your time line is but, I would buy the prototype (assuming you'll make one) and give it a test if needed before you produce them.
