I go to this junk yard like almost every month they just got a late 60's model skylark 4 door. After looking it over I opened the hood to find a big block. I'm not to for sure on size I think like a 455 but I know a big block when I see one. I didn't want to ask the guys there fearing they may not know it's a big block yet :Brow: I did ask them though if they would sell the whole car. The body is in real BAD shape so is the interior, but the Eng. looks like it just needs a rebuild. the guy let me know I could have it for 350.00. What size big blocks where in skylark around that time and does anyone think it's worth getting for that price?

Just check on the back of the block on top. There is a little "shelf" just under the back of the intake. That's where a lot of parts you drop when working on an engine end up.
I know if it's a 455, it will say that right there. I believe the 400 and 430's will also have their respective displacements there, too.

I went and bought it atlast and found it to be a 455. Althought that was good news. After pulling the eng. I found a tag on it. So I had to call the company to find out what they have done to it. They haven't called me back yet but I think it was a stock rebuild.
