My son and I will try to be there. It would be our first. What all goes on here. Will there be parts available from some people? I still need a drivers side fender. I am sure our car won't be finished by then, but sounds like fun anyway.

If you have not been to one of the Texas events you are missing out there is more than racing at these events. Great time meeting people, Eating, racing, looking at cars. Some parts will be sold as well as people meeting up to exchange parts for $ and so on. Look forward to see you and your son. :TU:

I'll be there Phil!

Maybe by then I can actually be DRIVING the car instead of just going out in the garage and looking at it.

Sounds great. Glad to see everything worked out with a date for the track. March 31st...just before those pesky APRIL SHOWERS right...

For anyone that hasn't been before, this is a great event.

Can't wait for more details. Thanks Phil for keeping this going and making it bigger and better every year. :TU:

Ah, Jarrod. Past events have been earlier in March, then at end of Year.
Texas weather (Give it 10 seconds & it will change) has Not been Good to Phil, for Racing, but GREAT for Partying.
You ready to go Racing??

Well, I'm ready! March 31 will be here soon enough... and if it's dry, what will we do for the fall party (err, race)? this year?

I'm thinking about a different menu this year-- any suggestions? I take requests!

I heard we are going grass roots and attacking local texas tracks and beating up on the brand X'ers...... (bad rumor lol)I heard something about maybe Houston from one of the Houston guys in late fall. It is a BYOF event again this is hearsay. I am sure we will get confirmation about the informal, just show up, 2 race of the year. :TU:

Now back to our friendly Texas Buick Nationals thread.

I live in the Dallas area and have been to several Texas events (none lately). The Texas events are great, the weather is unpredictable, but The end of March is usualy pretty nice. If I dont sell the Blue Car I would like to run it there. What are the track rules of safety there (roll bar, slicks, helmet ,etc.). Is it 1/8 mile or 1/4 mile? Anyone around here got a trailer for rent?

TXGS

Jamie it is a 1/4 mile track. You will not be required to have a roll bar or helmet. However there will be waiver for all to sign at the entrance. So it will be at your own risk. Now that I got the liability comment out of the way, We look foward to seeing you there:beer

Sound like a good time. I am glad it is a 1/4 mile run but Waco is a werd spot. I think that place is on inidan burial ground. I was at a rained out event last year and it was still a good time. Nail heads come get you some RIV GS.

Sorry guys, but I'm praying for rain! The only way I can go is if it gets postponed until after tax day. Come on rain.

I'll be doing the rain dance, so if it does rain, you can bitch at me. :)

Hey guys, I'll try to give a little track info. here.

The normal track program starts at around 5:00. There's a test and tune all night for the $5.00 fee. They have an 1/8 mile bracket race that usually starts around 7:00 or 8:00. I'm not sure of the entry fee for the brackets at this time. If enough guys want to race a 1/4 mile bracket race, they will have one that runs consecutively with their normal 1/8 mile brackets. Their only stipulation on the 1/8 mile brackets is that no electronics are used ( delay boxes or transbrakes)

If anyone is wanting to sit in the shade, they will have to bring thier own shade with them. The track is an old military air strip, so there's not anything resembling shade anywhere close to the track.

For the fast guys....there's plenty of shut down area, but it may not be as smooth toward the end as some may prefer. 10 to 11 second guys should be fine. Our event will only be the second weekend that the track will be open this year, so hopefully the track will be in good enough shape for someone wanting to get a personal best.

I'm sure i'm forgetting something, so if anyone has any questions, I'll do my best to answer them.:beer

Jaime, try U-haul for a trailer, they are usually around $50 per day. They will hook it up to your vehicle and get you rolling.

There will probably be a caravan from DFW, early that Saturday morning, I'll post it up as we get closer to the race date.

Patton, Their event starts at 5:00. We have use of the track from 8am till 5pm. At that time we can pay another $5 individually to race for the remainder of the evening in their event.

Anyone making the trip to Waco from Houston needing a car hauler, give me a call. The usually rent for $75 a day + tax, but let me know it is for the Texas Buick Nationals and I will do that rate from 3-30(friday) till 4-2(monday) at that 1 day rate. I have other 16' trailers with sides for the same rate. Give me a call @713-667-5651 if anyone needs one. Shawn

this is my first post (i joined the forum trying to find sbc info for a '62 special)
I am totally going to go. My buddy just bought a white '62 special that we will try to get down there from fort worth.
Regal1, I would really like to caravan down there. My buddies house with the buick is about half of a mile off 35 in burleson, so unless your coming from dallas, then you will drive right by it, and we can meet up. if you are coming from dallas then we can meet in hillsboro. Even if its just us 2 it would be fun.
Will there be people selling parts?
I would like to know more about the exclusive use of the track.
I just got a built 355 in my 79 bu and tuned it. Drove it once and woud like to get some track time. is that no-go since this is a buick event? at least its a g-body. Will i have to wait until 5?
Heres a pic of me and my buddy. so yall can spot us.
I am very very excited about this, i just got home from deployment, and havnt been to the trackin over a year!!
PS. I may be going up there from fort hood, so i will meet up with some people from austin and go up 35.
If i can bring my malibu, ill be coming from fort worth, if i cant, then ill probably be coming from fort hood.

Your Malibu is welcome to come and race. There should be several that will caravan from DFW. Some are on this side of town, some on your side.

We will meet up in Hillsboro I35 at the Loves truck stop about 7am-730am.
see ya there
