Over a year ago, I posted in another thread warning people about a 72 Stage 1 that was for sale in Brunswick OH. It was Flame Orange / white interior. It was badly misrepresented in the Ad and I took alot of crap about "letting it go" or the "one that got away." Anyway , if someone on the Board knows who bought it, I do remember that it had an incorrect Pontiac trans in it, and this would be real close to original. Just trying to help!:TU:

I would like a BB for my Stage1 but my VIN is 173680.

Just for the gee whiz file, what does a BB trans cost, vs a regular T400. I have heard there were differences in them, but dont know what. Seems like people make a big deal of them.
Just curious.

The BB is a "factory" prepped Heavy Duty 400 turbo.

The guys at the plant threw in a couple extra clutch plates, some valve body mods, and a different governor.

Basically the same is done when someone builds a 400 turbo from an Electra for HD street use. A shift kit, some HD clutches, and a HD int sprag is installed, with some governor work.

Unless you own the car the tranny came from, I reckon it's just another core.

I agree 100% Glen.

Don't pay a premium on a non-numbers transmission. :beer

Just a question.. how do you properly decode a transmission...where do you get the numbers, i may have seen a nice buick bb tranny the other day and i just let it go.:blast:

The info you need can be gathered from the Tag (RH SIDE) or the Vin stamped along the pan rail (LH side).
