Oh man, I lost the socket that came with these lugs. Dose anyone have any idea how I should go about getting these off now? I tried the locking pliers but they just slip on the smooth outer surface.

I would imagine the only thing you could really do is buy another set with the socket in it.

I have another set but the socket doesn't match. I printed the picture to take to an auto parts store. Maybe they can match it up.

If you are desperate, you can take a "whizzer" (or whatever you call it) and cut a groove. Then you can use a big screwdriver or something.
You might also be able to weld a socket on there.
They do sell kits to remove those, but they are a pain to use, and probably more money than you want to spend right now.
If you aren't afraid of replacing the stud, there is more that can be done (smashing it with an air chisel?).

Snap On makes a tool for that which works quite nicely. Its a little pricey for a one time use though. But...you'll always have it for the next time!
Most of the time you can hammer an oversize socket on the locking lug and take them off that way. 12 point sockets seem to work the best. Find one that almost fits the diameter and bang it on. You can then use a breaker bar or a gun to loosen them up

HAA, I hope there isn't a next time.
I'm trying to get these wheels off to sell them on eBay or where ever. I want to go back to the Rally Rim look with 5 regular lugs.

Yeah, I think if my vise grips were bigger they would work. I stopped by NTB and they had 6 sockets left behind by other people but none of them matched up.

Craftsman makes a 3 pack of impact grade lug-outs. They work very very well, don't ask how many times I've had to use them :af: on my own vehicles.
They will easily grab that McGuard style lock and take it off. Works every time for me :TU:

Tighten the other 4 lugs, then take a 6 point deep well impact socket that just fits over the end of the lock and drive it on just a little ways with a hammer. You should be able to turn the lock off. Before it is all the way off of the lug, wiggle the socket up and down and side to side to break the grip on the lock. Hope this helps!
I've tried the socket trick too and it works. You can also use a small piece of pipe and hammer it over the lug. You might also be able to work a chisel around the center (key part) hammering it in a outward maner counter clockwise. Good Luck.
So basiclly with so many ways to remove them, these types of locks are useless? :Do No:

Although they can be removed with time and tools, they are not useless. The best defense is being too much of a pain to steal. Theives are always looking for the easiest way out, that's why they're theives.
Besides our rims are 5 lug, the theft rate is higher on 4 lug rims, with an import bolt pattern.

It works...next option is to go to a wheel shop, we do it all the time for customers, and we already have the tools...
