Hey everyone, OK I'm new to Buicks so I have a couple questions. My son just got a 67 skylark to fix up for his first car. It has a 340 4bbl engine in it. According to my books this is a 10.25 copmression engine. What is the best way to lower it down to around 9.00. Can a person swap later model heads? Dished pistons? Thanks in advance

The 340 was only made in 1966 and 1967, which limits your choices for replacement parts.
The compression is 10.25:1 in the 4-bbl engines and 9.0:1 in the 2-bbl engines. The pistons are the difference.
When I finally rebuild mine, I will use 9.0:1 pistons to avoid the pinging problem which I now have to use a racing fuel mix to overcome.
