View Full Version : Why is the site continually logging me out?

I will log in, post a new or reply to an existing thread, and all seems well until I navigate somewhere else on the board. When I try to post again, or view a photo, or even return to edit a previous message I have to log in again, (and again). Is there something I am doing wrong? I haven't experienced this problem until recently.

Same thing has been happening to me, but when I go to log on again my name is still listed on the list of people currently using the site. ODD :Do No:

Are you sure you are logging in with the remember me checked in the login box???

If so, try deleting all cookies and temporary internet files in your explorer.

Also make sure all Internet Explorer updates have been installed from Microsoft Updates. Internet Explorer Version 6 or greater, plus updates.

Also check if all pop up blockers are disabled. (IE:Google Toolbar, Symantec Internet Security, McAfee, etc.)

Mike - What is the amount of time between when you log on and when the board logs you off?

I've noticed if you are away from the computer for a short period of time, it often logs you off. Is there a way to increase that?

I've never had that happen to me, and I'm frequently logged in for long periods of inactivity.

The VBulletin software does not have the ability to do that. You probably have some issue with your system. It could be many things causing that. Try resetting you Internet Explorer security settings. Check firewall settings or maybe as simple as a screen saver / energy saver.

I had the same problem after deleting my temp files and cookies, and changing my security settings from medium to medium high. I changed back to medium and all is fine again.

I have my security setup well on Firefox 2 - I specifically allow the cookie from this site (and a few others) and specifically allow scripts from this site. So my settings are pretty high in relation to MSIE's "medium high." I just make exceptions for the few sites I really care about.

Maybe specifically allowing V8buick might help the situation.

I have the same problem if I log onto the site from OTHER than the 1st page when coming to V8Buick. If I cruise the site W/O logging in and see something on one of the areas and then log into said thread I will be OK to post or view photos on THAT thread (area), but if I jump to another area on the board, BINGO, I have to clear & re-enter again. If I log on the first time on the 1st page when 1st arriving @ V8 Buick all is OK and I can jump around as much as I want to for as long as I want to. Different from the old board format for sure but not too much of a hassle. Jim
