View Full Version : Keep threads as unread

Sometimes I don't visit the site for a few days and when I come back to it there have been (lets say) 500 posts and 90 threads since my last visit. I like to check out most of the new threads. Sometimes It takes a couple hours. My problem is after a certain amount of time, all the threads marked as new/unread in bold print go away to standard print and I don't know what I have read yet. This sucks. Can I make it so they will stay as new until I exit the site. ( I think that all makes sence ). Thanks, Steve

You can subscribe to threads, so you can just view the ones you've subscribed to.
I just open all the threads I want to read in tabs first, then I read them. This way they don't get marked as read/old before I see them on the list.

Mike,
Anyway to add a function to let you view new posts in the last 24 hours or 48 hours or 72 hours? The only way I know of now to view the last day's thread's, is to come to the site not logged in. Any other tricks or ways to do it?
Thanks, Chris

I'm not sure exactly what causes that problem. I cannot seem to duplicate the problem. My unread posts never reset until I click "Mark Forums Read".
Could be a cookie issue, could be Internet Explorer versions or updates.
I did not want to clutter the tool bars with New Post options, however I'll see if I can use the "New Post" link on the navbar and make a pull down that looks like this:
View New Posts
View Daily Posts
View Posts In The Last 2 Days
View Posts In The Last 3 Days
View Posts In The Last Week
View Posts In The Last Month

It must be related to cookies. If I come here I can see how many new posts there are. If I close the page, and come here again, there will be 0 new posts (or however many since I was "away."). If you leave it long enough or refresh it will do the same thing (does the main page still auto-refresh?).
