I have a 1997 3800 that had a upper intake manifold fail and let coolent into the cylinders and the engine ran hot and shut down. I found no coolant in the oil so I installed a new improved upper intake and it ran great for 2 days and started having a valve tap, any ideas on what happen here? Thanks AL.

i've changed many intakes, have seen lifter noise also.did you change oil also?possible dirt, moisture in oil.series II should all be roller cam/rockers-not adjustable.did this engine hydrolock? i have had a couple bend connecting rods, causing piston noise.good luck, dan

It did hydrolock on a restart before I installed the new intake when I tried to start it a couple times. As far as the oil I did change it but saw no coolant in the oil. I don't understand why the engine would run perfect after the repair then have a upper end oiling problem, AL.

Al - You might try some Seafoam in the crankcase. I usually do half a can, put the rest in the tank.

Run it several hundred miles and then maybe have a power flush done at one of the Quick Lube places.

Scott, this has been a wild set of events on this car! We will do a internal cleaning and see how she goes. Thanks! AL.
