My first car was a '64 Buick Wildcat! 401 nailhead, a good ol' pimp machine!

My favorite cars are:

My first car was a 1966 Skylark hardtop 300, 2bbl, powerglide.

I have too many favorites to list.

I'm very partial to my mom's 62 Skylark convert, 215, 4bbl, 4 spd though (her first car).

My first car was a 1964 Buick Skylark 2dr. Med. blue 300-2bbl, auto with buckets. Finished its time with me with a 455, th400 and other goodies until I wrecked it.
Just couldn't resist it when I found another one in 2000.
Second car 1969 Stage 1, still with me after more than 31 years. Can hardly remember a time when it wasn't around.

By far the best vehicle I ever owned. I wish I still had it.
But I was stupid, and sold it to by a 69' pontiac LEMENS:error:

Ah, but that was way before I knew what a buick was.

It was actually a 1972 Chevy C10, 350ci 4 bbl th350. I loved that truck. I still don't remember why I got rid of it. I think I traded it for a little body work on a '70 Challenger and a Kenwood stereo.

Boy, did Randy ever ever see me coming!!!:Dou: :Dou: :Dou:

2d car was a, get this, 1977 VW Rabbit. That thing was a terror in 1st and 2d gear. After that, it just kind of fell on it own nose. Traded that for a 1977 VW Scirocco. Then I found out that a Scirocco at 70 mph will NOT move a 1983 Olds 98 that is stopped at a stoplight, no matter how fast the Scirocco is going. I, on the other hand, did not fare as well as the Olds. Thankfully, I didn't kill any one that day. :TU:

After that, I pretty much stuck to American cars, with the exception of the year when I was stupid, er, married. Had a POS Nissan tht the wife thought was 'pretty'. :Do No:

Try a 1956 Studebaker Champion three speed with overdrive. In HS several of the guys would have to get out before it would pull a steep hill. From miles away you could always tell where I was because the perpetual smoke signals from the exhaust.

My first car was a 67 Mustang Convertible my cousin bought new. I had lots of fun in that car every summer at the Jersey shore. The girls loved the convertible. I kept the car for about 20 years, but decided to sell it and all the parts to fund the X-Camino project. Still miss it.

My first car was a 70 GS 350. I boubht it when i was 15 and only paid $25 dollars for it. My dad over heard a guy he worked with talking about what he could get for the car at the junk yard. My dad told him that i would give him whatever the junk yard would..About a week later the delivered the car to me.Cant beat that for 25 bucks. All it needed was tires ,exhaust.arear bumper, and the engine oil bypasses cleaned out. As of this day i've owned the car 2 times and 4 of my friends have owned it.And 1 of them still has it to this day.

As to my favorite i guess it would be my 70 GS 455 i've had it since 86 and i'm doing a frame off on it right now. But like most others i've had alot of cars i wished i'd never got rid of.

My first car was a '66 Impala convertible with a 283 c.i. and two speed slushbox. I paid $200.00 to a friend for that car. Being from the snowbelt in western N.Y. it had it's share of cancer and the motor was weak. Had to park it on a grade so I could coast start it!! Money was tight for a while!! The girls liked it. Alas, it ended up parked in a friends field, rotting. What was I thinking? Had many '60's Chevys in those days.

Wish I'd been a little smarter and just stored it somewhere. :Dou: Fun to read everyones stories.

My first car was a '64 Electra 225 4dr hardtop. I helped my Grandma pick it out in the fall of '63 when I was 5 years old. I got it when I turned 16 in 1974. A year later I bought my 1st 1975 Skyhawk and kept it until 1981 with 120,000 miles on it. Still have the '64 Electra...just can't bear selling her to anybody. Not worth really anything to anybody but me. Just this past December bought another '75 Skyhawk and having a blast with it!

`71 Centurion 4dr hardtop. 455, TH400, 3.42 Posi. In 1986 bought it for $200 from people who couldn't afford to put gas in it. Very good condition for being in upstate NY. My only old car that still had good paint, interior, drive train, etc. Broke the nylon timing chain gear and had a friend fix it, he didn't prime the oil pump and he ran it for about an hour trying to figure out the oil pump issue, needless to say it was ruined, and I didn't have the $$ to fix it. I really miss that car. Other cars that I had that I wish I still had: `63 Thunderbird, `66 Chevelle Wagon.

A 1970 Olds F-85 (A.K.A. a plain Jane Cutlass) with a 350. Given to me at 17 by my parents when they traded for a VW Scirocco and the dealer would only give them $300 for trade in. I loved the car, drove it to Nashville, Tennessee and back after I graduated. My father spotted the '71 GS Stage 1 for sale three years later and convinced me I should buy it! What a smart man! (gave the Olds to my younger brother). I still have the GS and it is my favorite - always will be. Got to give credit to the '85 VW Golf I bought after graduating from college and drove it 240,000 miles-tuff, good handling car. Still in love with the GM early 70's cars. Daily driver is 70 4-door Chevelle I bought in 1995 with 28,000 miles on it (250, 2 speed trans, manual everything including armstrong power steering). Now has 123,000 and goes 50 miles each day to work and back. Just bought a '70 Estate Wagon with 455-4V, TH400 and posi rear. Haven't really driven it yet-planning to go to Flint in July with the wagon! Can't wait.

My first car was a '71 Skylark with a 350-2. Car ran GREAT, but needed body work. My second car was a '70 Skylark 350-4 which sold me on Buicks after I would run around circles around most cars on the road in 1987. :Brow:

I can thank the good Lord for giving me His grace to have the oppurtunity to own my favorite- '70 Stage1 convertible.

I was 17 when I got my first car (1971 GS455), after borrowing my sisters chevy vega many times:moonu: I was working as an electricians helper when the foreman said he was selling a buick that needed a few things but he only wanted $300:puzzled: So after work my buddy Charlie and I went to take a look at the car. There it sat in a cement garage without a door and leaves all over it. The front bumper was missing and the pass fender had a nice dent. The hood had these really cool hood scoops in it. Then I looked down at the fender and noticed it said GS 455. Dark green with tan interior and a black vinyl top, rear defrost, a/c and factory eight track. The battery was dead, but we knew we found something good. We ripped the battery out of Charlies car 1965 olds starfire 425 rocket and put it in the GS. Well do all you buick guys remember when you first heard the roar of our beloved 455 engines?   It was the greatest feeling in the world as I sat in the drivers seat and felt the power at my foot for the first time:jd: Needless to say that is when my buick blood started flowing 23 yrs ago:TU: And still going strong with two 1972 GS"s:beer

The first car I paid cold hard cash for was a 73 Nova SS, 350 3spd 2bb. I put headers and glass packs on it and had a blast with it for about 7 years or so. Bought it in 79 or 80. It was cheap, reliable transportation. I didn't have to put a penny into repairs for all those years.

My favorite? No question, my current 68 GS350.

My first car was the '71 GSX I still have. Bought it off my father in '77 for $2,000 with 42,000 on the clock. My mother wanted him to sell it 'cuz she thought I'd kill myself in it. He tried. Highest offer? $1,300 bucks. In the end I convinced her I could kill myself just as easily in the '72 Olds Cutlass with a Rocket 350(my second car, btw), so I might as well drive the one I preferred.

My First was a '64 Impala SS, red with a blue door dingle balls on the sunvisors and shag carpet throughout. What a basket case thar car was, but I had fun in it. Ever see Cheech&Chongs Up In Smoke, it was very similiar to the MUFDIVR. My first Buick was a '65 Wildcat 2dr, white with black racing stripes, very cool car! Current cars:

'64 Wildcat 4drht
'65 SS Impala 4speed
'65 Wildcat 2drht
'66 Skylark 340-4v bucket seats/console
'67 Convertible Skylark 340-4v column shift ST300
'68 Convertible Electra 225 Midnight Blue
'70 Wildcat 2dr triple black daily driver

I'm going to pick up a '63 Wildcat 2dr this month, 78k original miles.

My 1963 Buick Skylark 4 speed 215 c.i. 200 hp posi rearend 2 door love machine. Me and my girl friend (wife now of 37yrs) did everything in that little ol' hotrod. Used to race it @ Fontana Raceway on a regular basis and always trophy'd with it there. K- stock was my class then. Raced it on the street more often than not and loved finding a Ford 260-289, Chevy 265-283 (327's too, even if I'd loose @ the end of the 1/4 mile) (loved the hole shot though), Dodge 318-382 to race against. Guess what I liked most about my 1st Buick was that I'd pull up against some hot looking GM; Ford or whatever and say Race? and they'd say "A Buick? and then I'd blow there doors off more often than not. Loved racing, loved Buicks and still do, indeed I did/do, but alas, then come a family and I became a spectator (BOO).:ball:

My 1st car was "Bessie" a '68 Wildcat 4dr. sedan that my parents bought new in late summer of '68 and gave to me when I turned 16 way back in 1976. Teal blue metallic-loaded. Gas crunch of the late '70's hit and I traded it in on a '78 Honda Civic- STUPID STUPID STUPID!!!! I still have dreams about that car- now I have another '68 Wildcat- this one is a custom 4dr. hardtop-charcoal grey with 22,000 original miles! Nice car, but I still miss Bessie-the one that started my love affair with Buicks! David:cool:

I still have my first car, my '70 Skylark. It's been a part of me for 15 years. My dad bought it in '87 for $200. He put the front and rear spoiler on it, the GS grill and painted it blue with the GSX stripes. I turned 16 in '88 and he sold it to me. I have had roughly 30 cars since but this one will NEVER be for sale.

My first car was a very uncool '76 LeSabre 350 2door, but at least it was a Buick. Got it in '82 while in high school. Since I didn't kill myself in it, my Dad said he would swap the old LeSabre for a '79 Z28 he'd picked up. Did the swap my senior year '84 and still have the Z28. I've had at least 10 different '70-72 Skylarks over the years, but can't decide on a favorite. My favorite was either my '70 GS 350 or '84 T-Type. Only had the GS a few months before we T-boned a drunk kid in a MR2 that decided to pull out in front of us.:ball: I hauled that totalled GS around with me for 13 years before parting it out. Will be putting the GS parts on my '70 Skylark Convertible soon. I had the choice of either the '70 Skylark Convt. w/ the wrecked GS or the '84 T-Type in my divorce from my ex-husband.:blast: It was a hard decision, but decided on the Convt. and the GS.:Dou:

My current cars:
1970 Skylark Convertible
1979 Z28
1989 T-Bird SC (daily driver-yes, a Ford V6 Super Charged)
2000 WS6 TA

The Skylark is the only one of my cars that has never let me down. It's always started and run while the others have crapped out.

Would love to have another real GS someday. Hope my GS clone will satisfy me for a while. Also, someday I'd love to have a GN to add to my collection (yes, another V6  , but turboed!!!)!

Mine was a Bamboo Cream '70 GS455 . I really wanted a big block musclecar, and it had to be matching #s. I had really liked '70 Chevelles when I was little (I bought all of the diecasts I could) but I got tired of them. When we moved to this neighborhood I fell in love with the GSs due to someone owning a Stratomist Blue '71 GS350. I researched all I could and found that the '70 GS455s were the most powerful musclecar of all time, right up there with the hemis.
That sealed the deal, and I looked for 2 1/2 years before I found my first car, the 70 GS455. I called it the Desert Storm car, it was primer, bondo (red) and bamboo cream colored. That was all when I was 15... I haven't looked back since, and now I own 2 GSs and I'm still working on it! I don't know if I could ever own anything but a buick now, although I'm still a big fan of any Abody BOP. Best looking cars ever made....ever.:TU:

My first car was a 1964 Dodge Dart (225 slant six). I believe it is still running around the county my parents are in today. What made this one special for me was fixing it up with my father. It was the only car we worked on together, started from something very rough and ended up with a very pretty car (light blue metallic). Looked stock except for being lowered (slight forward rake). I was running a glasspack. Still didn't sound like an eight (which I wanted rather badly at the time), but cackled wonderfully on deceleration. It was a good first car. Many good memories.

1968 GS 400 Convertible - My father's friend knew someone selling a Buick convertible and we went to look at it. I didn't have my license yet so my Dad had to test drive it. He left wheels pulling away from the curb. "I don't think your Mother will like this." I talked her into it and drove it until I sold it to go to college.

1st car was a 70something vega w/dead 4 banger. Someone came into my auto shop class in high school and basically threw me the keys. Never could get it to run, gave up and sold it to my friend for a 6 pack of bud. He put a 350 in it and had a blast destroying tires with it.

1st and only new car was a 91 chevy S10. Dad cosigned on it, Black,4 banger, no options other then A/C. 2 months after I got it, I had just detailed it and went to go pick up my little brother from school. A Benz pulled out in front of me on a blind curve. Goodbye S10.

Next was a 72 Olds Delta 88 coupe W/455-4. Giant car, lots and lots of power and a blast to cruise. Payed $500 for it, was in perfect shape other then non functioning power windows (fixed on the way home from picking it up) was a perfect car. This car was a DUI magnet. The guy I bought it from was selling cuz he got a DUI and lost his license. I loaned it to a friend, he got a DUI, loaned it to his brother, he got a DUI also and was too stupid or embarassed to tell me that it got impounded for two weeks. Impound fees were over $1,000 so I had to let the car go. Bummer.

Then the fascination with aircooled VWs started. Had a 63 ragtop bug and a 74 baja. Money pits but a whole lot of fun.

86 Toyota 4x4. Bought as a theft recovery for $1,200. Put another $1,000 in it and it was good as new. Still own it 13 years later, has 258,000 miles on it. I love this truck.

97 Toyota Tacoma. Bought it when it was a year old. Became work truck by day and lowered import racer at night. Spent a fortune on lowering, shiny metal intake tubes, clear taillights and fart pipes. lLost business, went broke, had to turn back into dealer. (OUCH)......

66 Buick Skylark 340-4, buckets, center console and floor shift. Traded a set of wheels and tires for it. Still have it and is an ongoing project.

85 Dodge d-50 longbed. Did some wiring work for a friend. Gave me the truck in trade. Workhorse, ugly and indestructable.

Thats pretty much all of em.

My first car was a '69 Buick Riviera, still have it today. When I was 14 and on a hunting trip with my father and brother I spotted a '57 Chevy Pickup. I begged my father to buy me the truck and before he had a chance, my brother bought it. Oh well, at least I got to drive it:moonu: . Then on one beautiful day, my father asked me if I would like to have the Buick. Looked like a moldy turd at that time. It had been sitting in the pasture for about ten or fifteen years. It was growing grass inside the car! But I thankfully accepted, realizing what an oppurtunity this was, and we restored it together. Project was about 98% complete in Aug of 98 when it was involved in an accident. It took several years to locate all parts needed to re-restore vehicle. My father and I are hoping to complete it, again this weekend. :Brow: Can not wait to drive that car for the first time, all over again.

...a 1979 Century Wagon waiting to be junked at a golf course. Bought it for 1$ with 60k kms (40k miles). Never saw a winter till I got it...

Odd history to the car...my grandfather bought it at a police auction in 1979 for my grandmother. She wasn't too fond of it, and when he lost her 6 months later he just gave the car away to a friend at the local golf course. He used it as a greens truck until 86 when it was left to rot after being replaced with a new pickup truck. The owner planned to junk it.

"If you can get it out of that shed it's yours, cheaper than hauling it away" Sure had a lot wrong with it...needed a battery

Bottom of the line, only option was a suspension package, ugly green with puke color interior... nothing special.... figured I'd probably own it for a couple years tops.

After 300k kms & 10 years, the car had been from Inuvik to Argentina. I lived in it for 3 weeks in University, moved cities a dozen times with nothing but a Wagonload, never had to be towed once. I lost accurate track of the odo at 400k, we're at 16 years.

Now that I have a shop to work in it's my experimental-daily-driver-engine-hauler car. Turned a consistent 13.8 most nights. Had a guy offer me 7500 for it last year, no sale, figure I'll probably own it for a couple more years tops... :TU:

Love my Buicks but would love to have my first car back....1963 SS Impala 409 4 speed Convertible. Paid $899. Sold it to a friend. It was stolen and he did not have the money to pay the storage yard after it was recoved. Saw one like it a few year back for $30K (no hydraulics  ). I still have recurring dreams that this car is parked in my garage and how glad I am for keeping it. Then I wake up.: ball:

I started driving in 1974 and my first car was a 1970 4 dr Olds Delta 88 with Rocket 455. Dad had the mechanic disconnect 2 barrels on the 4 barrel carb but the car still had plenty of get up and go. I won many inpromptu burn out contests in this car.

Favorite cars.... I've been blessed since I currently own my favorites. I also have a soft spot for early F Body Trans-Ams and AMC AMX cars. The one car I'd really like to drive or own one day would be a BBB GS 4 speed car. Next Turbo Regal I own will be a 87 Limited Turbo with bench/ column- very rare sleeper. Owned a 66 Corvette Sting Ray Roadster w/327 4 speed for 12 yrs- car was really too nice to drive which always made me paranoid. Liked the car, really disliked most of the other owners attitudes! Sold the car and doubled my investment- got into Buicks- never looked back and never regretted it!

I am the 4th child in a familay of 8 kids with 2 older brothers and the cars I was exposed to were very exciting.

67 chevelle with the 327, manual trans, and steep gears, A 340 duster with a 4 spd, 66 pontiac tempest 2 spd auto, a ford galaxie convertable, 68 ford falcon with a v8, and a pontiac catalina 2dr with a 400 CI. Now these were all at an age where i was to young to drive but close enough to dream.

So which one did I get to drive? A 1973 Pinto station wagon with a slipping transmission. followed by a Fiat 128 sedan.

My first real car was purchased in 1998 and it was a 1970 skylark 350, 4 bl. my first v8 in 20 years. I have since put in a 455

Music to my ears 455 open headers. now tamed to 2.5 exhausts. but when i get longing for spring just fire up the 455 and enjoy the music. What a primal sound. irt gets my heart just a thumpin.

mine was a 1979 olds cutlass i got it the day after i got my license only took about a month to kill the tires and blow up the slug 260 v8. After installing 1 72 350 olds, 11 trans, 2 rearends and wreaking it for the 4th time my parents made me sell it.

My mom found my skylark, in pieces in a garage here in ohio, and in michigan from a guy she worked with. Thanks mom.

This is my first car! It's a 1963 Chrysler, with a 361 big block, pushbutton 727 and 2.76 geared 8 3/4. Honestly! My dad gave it to me for my 16th birthday 3 years ago. Oldest car in school parking lot. I recently put an Edelbrock DP4B with an old Carter AFB in place of the old 2bbl, and boy, did it pick up! Best time with the 2bbl was 18.48 @ 72mph. Hopefully, a bit faster with the Carter.

I'm in the situation of possibly selling it now (as my sig notes). It's a tough decision! I know you'll all tell me to keep it!:Dou:

My firsr car was a 68 Wildcat Custom 4 door hardtop. I paid it 700 canadian $ when I was 15 years old and learned how to drive with it... a few months before I got my driver's liscence! It was my daily driver for eight years and a few accidents until I got the fatal one (to my car) in february 2000. I loved that car! It has 3.42 posi rear and had very decent performance for such a big car! I hope I'll get another one like this one day!

'71 Pontiac Grand Safari. Huge monster wagon w/455 4bbl, clamshell tailgate, every button imaginable back then. Would smoke my buddies' 350 Camaro with ease on a straight road. My first car was a '67 Barracuda but my first NEW car was a 1973 Buick Century 350-4 with a 3.42 axle. Black with Burgundy interior. It was a nice sleeper. At 48,000 miles I redid the 350 with factory 10.25 pistons and shaved the heads .030 and added a .484 lift 284 duration cam. The car was almost too much fun. Al my friends had Chevelles or Novas instead of a Buick but when they got dusted by the Buick it made it all worth while.
My first fun encounter with a Buick and probably what has made me a closet Buick freak for years was my mom's 64 Wildcat. It was a 4 door hardtop but she ordered the car and bought it with the 2-4 425 engine. Thank God I was too young to drive that one or I would have done something stupid back then. :o)

My first car was a 1969 VW Beetle complete with no floors, no heat, no brakes and a major oil leak. My dad and I fixed it up and that's what I learned to drive in. Cold ride in the Michigan winter but we sure had fun.

Next car was a 1970 Chevelle 350 4bbl. Ended up with 3 tickets in four weeks: Brow: so it was replaced with another VW.

Since then I've own 5 more Chevelles (68'-75') and a 1967 Pontiac LaMans.

I love the A cars. Now I just need to talk the wife into letting me get my Buick.

My first car was a '72 Skylark Custom in Slivermist with a black interior. It had 111,000 miles on it and Dad lent me $750 to buy it in April of 1982. It was rusty in the quarters. I spent a ton of money over the next few years on paint and body work, I rebuilt a 455 and dropped it in in 1984. A GS hood and a 3:08 posi were added later. Two years later came the Crower cam and Kenne Bell chrome headers. I had one of the fastest cars in town. Everyone knew who I was. The car defined me.

The cancer wouldn't stay out of the quarters...driving in snow and salt on the streets of Bellevue and Omaha were too much. I had to make a decision...keep the car and be consumed or get through college.

Right after I graduated from college, I saw an ad for a GS 455 in the paper. I wenht to look at the car and it was my old Skylark. Some kid 6 years younger than me thought he had a GS 455. He rebuilt the engine but had done little else to it. I felt bad breaking the news to him. He was truly shocked. Along the line, someone had passed the car off as a GS. There was no GS badging on it anywhere! I added 455 empblems to the fenders at some point and I guess that's where it started.

I often wish I had made him a stupid offer and been able to buy it back...but that was a dozen or so years ago. I happy with the memories of racing on Abbott drive north of the airport.

I raced a 442 with a 455/4speed setup. The car was built!, but the guy clearly didn't know how to drive it or launch it. I beat him three times. When we parked and looked under each other's hoods, his expression and the disbelief in his voice was priceless. It looked like a daily driver under the hood, becasue that's what it was. I had a qjet, stock intake, a cam and headers. I even had a stock GS aircleaner on it. His was beautifully dressed up, but it didn't nmake his car fast enough!

:TU: My first car was a 1957 Triumph TR 3 . 2 seats 4 cyls 4 speed 2 sidedraft one barrels! It was rated at 100 HP and ran 15's in the quarter, hooked up quick and with solid lifters would wind up forever. Biggest problem I had with the car was killing generators from too many R'S! My favorite car was my second car a 1960 Corvette with a 292 C.I. dual quads fuelie cam and solids fuelie heads Hedman headers Mallory Rev Pol 4 speed with 4:11 0r 4:88 gears depending on the competition in town for the weekend. Car ran low 13's high 12's with slicks and open headers. I would love to have that car back! I will have to admit out of all the muscle cars I have owned big and small blocks my current 455 Stage 1 has more torque than all the rest of them put together!

my first new car was a canadian , oshawa built 1970 chevelle malibu , 2 dr ht , pearl white interior , bucket seats , console , 350v8 L78 (300 hp) , th350 , posi , heavy duty suspension , dog dish hubcaps , am radio + dual speakers , underdash lights , trunk light , tinted windshield , & forest green in colour .
i ordered this car in late february 1970 & took delivery in early april .
car was fast from the get go ; a real sleeper . i installed a set of h70X14 tires on 6" rims . i removed the 350 fender logos & the chevelle grill bowtie (still have the bowtie) .
if that car could talk , it could tell some great tales .
again , if hindsight was 20/20 , i would have kept the car .
i was able to track all the subsequent owners until 1989 when the car ceased to be licenced . did talk to the final licenced owner
in hopes of retrieving the car & restoring it . however , a year before i contacted him , he sold it & the new owner never registered it again . probably became a thumper race car .
that my 1st ride !

The Buick by the way is the same color and year as the 67 GS400 that dad bought in 68, his second car, he traded it in in 72 to the chevy dealer for a brand new 72 Monte (he still has it). But he missed the GS so about 12 years ago he bought this Rag top, I got it from him 2 summers ago.

My first car was a 1988 Chevy Cavalier. I got a great deal for it, but only because the owner passed away and it was sitting for a few years. It was the biggest piece of crap and I ended up spending more money to keep it running then I paid for it. My dad called it The Cadavalier.

Then I came across my second and favorite car, a 1970 Buick Skylark. I bought it off the origional owner who only drove it to the grocery store and to church on Sunday. It was all origional, garage kept, and had only 67,000 miles. It's a blast to drive and I cruze everywhere, and it will kill any import!:Brow:

My first car was a 1972 Buick GS Stage 1 Convertible. It was Cortez Gold with a white top and interior and heavily optioned. It had 66k on the odometer when I gave the man $2,000 for the car in 1981. A faulty water pump had caused a couple of burnt valves and the original owner did not want to fix the problem.
I found the car by accident. A guy came by the gas station where I was working and I was taken in by the excellent condition of the car and the subtle styling of the Buick. A deal was struck and after an engine rebuild, the car was better than new. I kept the car all through High School. It was known around my area as one of the fastest and most consistent performers. An incident with an icy road and a ditch led to a repaint in Ferrari Red (hey I was 17). The work was done by Don Drennan Buick in Hoover, Al. I sold the car in 1986 for $5,000 and used the money to buy an 1986 BGN. Like many of us, I always regretted selling my GS.

Now I have a Sunbeam Tiger which is fun to drive, but as evidenced by my presence here, I want back into the Buicks. The Sunbeam is fast, but not conducive to long cruising like the Buick. I drove a Stage One not long ago and couldn't wipe the smile off my face.

I figure this time around I want either a GSX or a 455 convertible. They are so much fun however, I guess my favorite will be whatever I end up getting and driving around.

If anybody knows of any good deals let me know.

My first car was a 1990 Chrysler 4 door salon. Bought it with just under 100k miles, sold it last summer with 163k miles in just over 4 years. Bought GN when i was 17 , thats a keeper, and got an 88 lesabre, last year that just got painted and everything done. Something about those old grandma/grandpa lesabres i like, easy maintenance and also great drivers.

Nice picture of a picture Josh! Here's my '68 Barracuda, yes it has a '67 front end due to a little old lady running a stop sign (notice the parts car in the background)! Ah the memories (all good)!.

The Ford truck in the background is an accomplished dirt road fish-tail professional, 240 ci and 3 on the tree. First motor dad and I re-built.

My first was my 67 Skylark 300 2V
Paid $400 for it 1989. I know I have pictures of what it looked like, but I can't find them at the moment. However...I do have a pic of what it looks like right now.

heh....

It was an ad for the new Dodge Ram HEMI. The professor was talking about how the black hole was the most powerful force in the universe...

Then some slackjaw in the back blurts out: "Hey teach, does that thing have a HEMI??"

uh...yeah. You just have to hear it:gt:

LOL. I've seen the TV ads (the truck-n-trailer hemi commercial), but never heard the radio version.

...I forgot I was supposed to list my favorite cars in this thread too...
Hmm..let me think about it.... (see sig) :gt:

But if I had to choose another, and it couldn't be a 67 Skylark or GS, I guess I could pick a few:
67 Chevelle, 67 442, 67 GTO (in no particular preference)
I just really like the 67 GM A-body style.

If it couldn't be a 67 GM A body, I'd go for a 67 Vette, or 67 Mustang Fastback.

Geeze..if it couldn't even be a 67, I guess I'd have to get all weird and settle for a Superbird, or a Viper! (any year/color will do please) :gt:

My 1st car was a pair of 72 Dodge Darts. My Aunt Helen had a REAL nice 70 Chevy Impala that she was afraid of ... so she went out and bought a plain jane 4 door 72 Dodge Dart, and told me I could have the Impala when I turned 16. Well after sinking much time and all the money I could make working part time into it, I had the Impala fixed up pretty nice . So nice in fact that my cousin Joey decided to sneak it out one night ... he totaled it :af: . When I turned 16 my Aunt gave me her Dart . But what she or anybody else in the family didnt know at the time was my older brother had a surprise cooked up for my birthday too. He felt bad about the Impala getting totaled and decided to do something for me for my birthday. There had been a 72 Dart Swinger for sale down the street from us for about 6 months , well my brother bought it and gave it to me for my 16th birthday .... now I had 2 of them :Dou: . I drove the Swinger for about a year till the torsion bar tore out of the frame (Car didnt like being airborne) then I drove the 4 door after that. I have the keys to those 2 cars hanging on a chain from the rear view mirror of the 72 Swinger I own now. My Aunt Helen was a great lady , I miss her , and my brother .... I cant say enough good things about him , and that has nothing to do with him giving me a car !

My 1st Buick was 79 Skyhawk ... I hated that car it was a pile .... Its hard to believe that turd and the beautiful Electra I own now came from the same manufacturer.

First car was a '64 Plymouth Belvedere slant 6 with push button automatic , I was 15 . My dad work for the local Chrysler Plymouth dealer and had taken a lady home who was having her car serviced. The Plymouth was parked in her back yard and hadn't moved in years. I paid $75 for it, poured gas down the carb and jumped off the battery and drove it home. Her son had worked his way through college as a house painted, this car had every color paint you could think of splattered all over, inside and out. I spent two year saving money and fixing it up. Drove it through high school and my first year in the service, then had my Dad find me a new Dodge Shelby Charger and traded it in.

my first car was a '72 skylark custom, man I loved that car...a drunk driver hit it while parked the first year I had it.....and with the insurance money, I bought my first '72 stage one!!! now thats dumb luck....even dumber that I sold it in '88.. it was factory black and loaded to the hilt ! in order my faves are;

67 gs400 [ best body style in my opinion]
66 gs [same as above and it has a nailhead!]
71 gs [ cant get enough '71s for some reason]
69 gs [love the hood and first ram air year]
65 gs [ on the list cause its the 1st and the year I was born]
'89 reatta [a timeless body design and all the '88 bugs were worked out]
'91 reatta [all the '90 bugs were worked out and bigger wheels]

surprised there isnt a '70 gs ? , absolutely killer car, the prettiest front and rear to look at, and maybe the "defining GS "period ...but everyone has or wants one, so I gotta be just a little different!!!! john

Here goes:

My first car was a hand-me down from my brother..(he was doing me no favors!)

It was 1960 Nash Rambler..fire engine red..3 on the tree..small engine..freqeuently wouldn't start in the cold..what a sh-tbox!

I had it in 1964 for about a year..until my family took pity on me nd helped me buy a new car.

My favorite (I have put this in a few posts already) was my '72 Skylark..a base sport copue that I optioned up..ordered new and had it for 18 years..in New England with snow and salt..drove it to the junkyard in 1990 and cried on the way home.

I still have the steering wheel and the dash..and all the doc....just not the car.

My 'new' 72 Skylark convertible is 'filling the void'...

June 1981. This was my first car purchased from my neighbor for $1,200.00 with 42k miles. Paper route money paid for the car and my first car would have been sooner in the form of a '71 Stage 1 car in the next town for $850.00 but my father wouldn't co-sign. Here is a picture of Joe Zamiska having fun with my first car. I think he bought it off me in 1985 and still has it!

A 1957 Mercedes 190.
Back in Norway those days, (1970), to own a Merc was suppose to be pretty cool, all the girls where impressed untill they saw it. No bumpers, brush painted silver metalic, work on it all evenings of the week, then try to cruise in the week-end. Normally pushed or towed home on Sunday.
Last seen in a junk yard compressed into a veeeeeeery small box.
Can remember using the fabric headliner for defrosting the windows.
As the headliner disapeared fantastic bottle openers appeared in the steel profiles behind. I can still recall the sound of the corks making their way down to the main frame.

My first was a 1972 Chevelle SS 402.It was Forrest Green with White Stripes.Non-AC,bench seat, with T-400 auto on the column. It did have cowl induction & hood pins though.Pretty cool car for a 16 year old.My dad bought for me for $1200.00 in `78,he bought me & my 2 brothers each our first car,but he didn't buy any of my 3 sisters their first car-He always said the boys worked really hard on the farm & he would buy us our first car.Funny thing was my sisters were usually out there as well-go figure!
Anyway back to the Chevelle,i was no saint as a teenager wound up totalling the car out on the way back from the beer joint when i was 17.A telephone pole jumped out in front of me:eek2:
Fotunately neither me or my passenger were hurt in that wreck.
I wish i had that car to part out now.The engine is still going strong,my dad put it in his `81 chevy 4-wheel drive truck-his farm truck!
I confess i still have a soft spot for the 70-72 Chevelle SS's.

Wow..

My first was a '55 Chevy wagon that's been hovering around our family since '69. Sometimes in a back yard, sometimes on the street... I still have it in the garage getting a complete rebuild.

I also grew up in a '71 Skylark that I owned for a few years before I had to let her go [grumble]...

My favorites? I like gassers. :-) Willys, Austin, '55 Chevy, but add into that mix 70-71 Buicks and a small handful of other muscle cars like the '69 Mopar B-bodies and 70 Cudas and Challengers.

My first car was a 1968 Opel Kadett station wagen. The car had 148,000 when I bought it for $275.00. It had already dropped a rod through the oil pan once before I bought it and had been repaired. The engine knocked like crazy. I drove it for a year and it quit on me the weekend I got married to my first wife. Should have seen it as an omen!

My latest and favorite conquest is my '67 GS. Picture attached.

Believe it or not...my first car was a 1970 Buick gsX. I was 16 yrs old and cruising in my mom's van....and about 3 blocks from my house i saw this big yellow car sitting in a front yard....i wheeled over there and it had the FOR SALE sign in the window. I stopped...got out...looked the car over....and proceded to knock on the door. A woman of about 75-80 yrs old answered. The car was her sons and it had been in her garage for 10 years and she got tired of seeing it....so she (or a friend, not sure if granny could handle a monster 455/4 speed) drove it into the front yard THAT DAY. She said i was the first one to ask about it. I asked her how much...and most of you probably wont believe this....but i only paid 1500 bucks for an original saturn yellow, 4 speed gsX. It wasnt in the best of shape...it needed some interior work, needed all new tires...the engine didnt run so well, and it needed some body work and paint, but it ran and drove. I had been saving money since i was about 14 and i knew i had enough...so i asked her to hold it for me (all i had was 40 dollars in my pocket) and she said that was fine. She took the sign out of it and the rest is history. This was back in 1998 i believe. Most of you probably wont believe this story, but it is true. I sold the car before i went to college for about 10k.....biggest mistake of my life. I loved that rare buford.

My first-first car was a '72 Hillman Avenger (Sold in the USA as a PLymouth Cricket I think). I never drove it. I paid £25 for it and messed about at doing it up when I was like 14.

Some buddies and I decided to fix up a '76 Honda Civic. Nothing much came of it.

My forst real project was a Morris Minor, but my dad made me get rid of it. But I learned to weld and all sorts doing that car. Someone else finished the resto on it at least. I sold it them for £80 and they sold it for £3000 finished... :af:

My first real driver was a 1979 Opel Kadett. It was my Mum's old car and he gave it me as a bribe to get rid of the Morris project when I passed my test.

Next up I had a '76 Ford Capri which was my Grandads and I got when he passed away. I still have this car, although its been laid up "pending" since about '91

I had a whole lot of Vauxhall cars, a fair few more Capris and a few Ford Cortinas, Rovers, Audis, more Morris Minors...

American cars are difficult to get in good shape over here, and when they are, they are expensive. Took me a long time to liove the dream and get my '66 Buick LeSabre. Nearly couldn't get it, I had to borrow £400 off my girlfriend to get to the sellers "lowest possible" price (after an hour or haggling!) Luckily I got the car and married my girlfriend so it all worked out OK in the end. I still have the Buick. I also have had a couple of Plymouth Fury's (I have a '68 Sport Fury Coupe at the moment as well as a few other toys).

I think I've had 36 cars now.

well, thats me.
