View Full Version : 455 engine swap?

:TU: I own a 55 century 2 dr hrd top , with a 322 nailhead and i have a 455 shortblock in the garage. Well, I want to put that in my car but i dont know if its ever been done or can be done or if anyone reading this knows how too , if any one has any kind of idea , please let me know! thanks

Sure but you have a closed drive train. The easiet way I have seen to do this is graft your body on a newer chassis. For example I saw a 57 Super body put on a 71 or 72 Esate Wagon chassis. The owner said it was an easy fit. I think you will find this donor method a time and money saver overall relative to the trouble you are going to have trying to mate a 455 to your current drivetrain and chassis.

And if you swap chassis you get the added benefit of Disk brakes, and a wider selection of suspension mods and wheel/tire combo's
You could also fab in a different rearend like a 4 link but that's a lot of fab work
