The battery in my 55 special is only half the size of what the original would have been. The place where it goes in the engine compartment is sort of shelf with what looks like a wooden base. I'm concerned that not having my modern battery properly secured could lead to an early replacement of it. Any tips on how to secure it better? Does anyone have pics of a custom made box or mount they have used? I'll post pics of what I am talking about if needed.

the original hold down is a frame that goes around the top of the battery. If you want an original size battery, they are available at KANTER and other places. However, if you go to your local tractor supply, you can get the same size 12 volt battery for under 2/3's the price. just a tip........

I'll have to look into the tractor supply thing. I hadn't thought of looking for a batter that size. I was focused on adapting to the new one. I'd rather have it look more original so it would be great to have the bigger batter installed. Of course I'll have to track down the original hold down frame since mine didn't have one when I bought it. Thanks. :beers2:
