Race fans, hot rodders, children of all ages...oh, ahem, sorry.

The Buick, Olds, Pontiac meet for the NW will be held September 13, 2003 at Bremerton Raceway. Need info or directions? No problem.

We are looking for as much Buick representation as possible. Each year we get more and more tri-shield entrants, now "WE WANT YOU"!! Bring your Buick, and race or show. Yes, it's a car show too! It's a family oriented event, spectators 12 and under are free, regular admission is 10.00. Race fee is 25.00 for tech card and racing.

Buick people are the best, and the NW has a fare share. So come out and run, show, or just support your fellow NW Buick owners. :TU:

We will keep you up to date on other NW Buick events as they unfold.

How about some pictures from previous BOP's...

Steve,

That was two months after I bought it. I was just happy to be there, ratty lookin' ride and all. I had the 72' convert at the car show that year too. Man was I busy. :puzzled:

Hi Aaron,

There are quite a few of us up this way. A couple of the guys that show to BOP don't spend much time on this board, but can be found on the Yahoo groups page.

There aren't a lot of Buick specific events outside of BOP and the Buick Club of America's yearly car show.

But Pacific Raceways are supposed to be open now - that's always a good place to meet!

AAron,
Come down to Pacific Raceways this Sunday and John and I will be there racing. We always have a good time thrashing Chebys.

Steve though really likes sending them home on their trailers.

If you need directions, email me.

Jerry,
John Biggs and I found out yesterday that this year the track at Pacific Raceways, will also have a BOP event. It is on September 28th at 8 am. Two great weekends!
I am sure Dean Kaufman had something to do with it. I know John has been hounding them for quite some time now.

Aaron,
I will be there if the weather is going to cooperate. Should be hitting the low 12's again depending on track conditions, and if I can get the gas thing figured out.

It will be great having you down here. The track has a new consession company, and the food is not bad either. Lots of nice cars, but not enough Buicks to show them how it is done:grin:

Hi Rick,

Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I just now checked that thread for the first time in weeks. There were some minor set backs, I just now got the Riv into running condition. I'm looking forward to hitting the strip soon:grin: How was the weather? How did you do? Did Steve go? BTW, drove my Buick to work for the first time yesterday, someone tried to car-jack me. Lucky for me, I was too quick getting back into my beloved car before that bastard, apologize for language use. That is my baby, I'll guard that car with my life. I'll never let anything happen to it, never I say! :Smarty:

AAron,
Weather was great. I did my best of 12.08 @110mph. Steve Everest, and John Biggs were there. Getting ready for the first points race of the season this Sunday.

Sorry to hear about the almost car jacking. That would really suck after you put all kinds of work into it. Did you see that post of the board of the security system the other day. The one that takes care of the problem before the police get there.:blast:

Hope to see you at the track soon. Even if you don't run, you can come down and watch. If the weather cooperates this weekend, we will be having some fast cars turn out. Saturday will be test and tune, and Sunday is points.

Last Sunday there was this fast white Turbo T, and he was leaving the line very cleanly and would put 11's on the board every pass. You couldn't even tell that he had roll bars in it. This car did not come in on a trailer either. It was a full weight car, and had power everything, and A/C to boot.

Aaron,
Didn't see any yet, but its early in the season. Bring yours down, and you may start something.

John and I saw this 70 Skylark race car with fiberglass bumpers, battery in the trunk, completely stripped, and he had a cheby motor in it. What a shame. The guy said that he couldn't afford to put in a Buick motor. He said the parts were too expensive.

The tech guy came up, took a look at the car and found something wrong, and he sent him home. The guy put the car on the trailer, and left.

Usually on Saturdays they open the gates around 8:00 am and start tech immediately. Runs usually begin around 9:00 am.

Since I'm "Buickless" this year, I'll be there taking photos too. And there will be a rare appearance by my wife too.

Randy,
The gates usually open around 8 on Saturday morning, with time runs around 8:30-9:00. I have seen the final race last as long as 7:00pm. There are no lights at this track, so they can't go too late. Stop by and say Hi.

Hey Randy,

The best way to go is drive around and take the Narrows bridge. The bad thing is with the construction on the bridge, traffic can get uglier later in the day. I'll probably leave Kirkland around 8:00 am. I was there a few weeks back and it took me about 1 1/2 hours to get there from Kirkland. I left at 6:30 and got there about 8:00.

The problem with the ferry is that it's the first morning of the weekend and there are usually more people going "that way". It will cost more in ferry tickets than in gas and often takes longer.

Take the narrows bridge towards Gig Harbor. The exit off I5 is just after the Tacoma Dome. You'll drive north for about 30 minutes after crossing the bridge. Look for Old Clifton Road. There will be a sign that notifies of Bremerton Raceway. OCR is the exit. At the bottom of the exit road, you'll take a left (westbound) and go under the higway. Follow this road for about 5 miles. You'll go past a golf course and a huge new church (both left side of the road). Look for a blue building as you start to round a corner. Just after that will be a 4-way intersection. There may (or may not) be some folding signs on the ground saying that there's "Racing Today". You'll take a left at that intersection. You've got the right of way, it's not a 4-way stop. You'll see a gas station, Texaco I think. Take the left towars the gas station, then an immediate right that cuts in front of the gas station. Follow that road to the end. It ends at the entrance to the race track. Do NOT speed on that road. The locals have the power to shut the track down if people get crazy. There is often a deputy Sheriff hanging out towards the end of the day too.

I'm not sure what all cars will be there. Rick has the white 70 Skylark with the black vinyl top. John Biggs should be there with his beautiful 71 GS455. Jerry will be the guy walking around making car noises as if the motor in his yellow race car were done. I couldn't talk him into running his station wagon.

See you there,

The wheelchair pulled off a monster holeshot, carrying the front rubber for several feet, but the deep gearing caused a severe forearm cramp at around the 1000 foot mark, allowing the GTO to slip by.

Good job guys!

Did you guys get this converted?

Not yet. My Dazzle Digital Video Editor melted when I played the part where were doing burnoffs.
Seriously, it melted, and I have to get either someone else to load it from my HI-8 tape, or wait until I get this one fixed.

John Biggs and his Dad will be there sometime on either Saturday or Sunday, and I will be there both days. Saturday is a time only and also a cash bash.
John has the Blue GS, and I have the white one with the Stage 2 hood scoop. Stop by and say hi.
Scotty Krone may be there too.
Are you going to race?

Rick: i'm thinking of making my way there tomorrow (saturday) I was just looking at a map and its a little further then i wanted to drive, but i got nothing better to do. I'll bring my car and run it if it feels like running. (It's very finicky). Dan

Dan, with the track being close to sea level, it makes the track a great one to get some good time slips at. John Biggs was running in the 12.20's at Pacific Raceway. He brought his car to Bremerton and popped off a few low, low 12 second passes.
It is really worth the trip.
I race at both Pacific Raceway and Bremerton, and Bremerton takes care of the track with a lot of VHT when it is needed. My fastest E.T.'s were last weekend, and if the weather stays as cold as it was last week, I will probably get that dreaded warning slip:( :spank:

I think you're going to want to run a pretty full tank (and full trunk) again this weekend. The air should be right on track for fast times!

It's too bad that I can't make either day. But, the more I get done this weekend and coming week, the potential for getting to the track on Sunday *could* exist for the next BOP.

From their schedule, it lists on the BOP races.

I would guess there are lots of opportunities to get lots of runs in too. There were less than 100 of them at Bremerton (plus the non BOP racing).

I'm hoping my wife and I will get to come down and do a little watching.

Hey! I'm interviewing for a job in Everett in 2-weeks, is there room for 2-more Stage-2 Buick's in the area? (nothing like hijacking a long-dead thread!)
