I started out with 15x6 wheels, then got 15x7 wheels. Now I would like to know what others are running. I just did a disc brake change over & 15x7 rubs on the caliper so maybe spacer. So what is the maximum tire & wheel combination that fits on a 64 Wildcat?

Why not step up to a 16 or 17 inch? that would solve the clearance issue and going with a slightly lower profile probably wouldn't hurt the handling. By the way, I am interested in the details of you disc convert. I am currently restoring a '64 'Cat myself and am looking for a kit or solid advice. Did you do all 4 or just front?
ps. your local tire guys should be able to find a combo that will match your tire height.

Happy to give you all the details of the conversion. Alot of it is posted here. Scarebird conversion is the way I went. Still some details I am working out. I did a disc/drum setup. Hate to give up my original 64 Cat wheels, but......

I did the scarebird conversion also, and i have now rims from a chevy 15x8 with the deeper backspace than the 64 cat 235/70/15 tires fits like a glove.
I also turned the rear axle center down to the chevy centerhole,it's now the same as the discs in the front.
Before the swap i had my own rims widened from 15x6 to 15x8 outside,i had 255/60/15 but they touched the rearfenders when i made a turn so i went down to 235/60/15 never touched the fenders after that.

That is interesting. I tried a set of Buick 15 x 7 wheels and they rubbed on the calipers. I guess they have a deeper backspacing than the 15 x 6 Buick wheels. What backspacing are your 15 x 8 chevy wheels?
