I have a 1963 Electra with a 425 in it now. The 425 has a rod knock and has to be rebuilt. The car is a daily driver and I would like to swap in a Pontiac 455 while the engine gets a complete rebuild. My question is.... will a 455 from a 76 GrandPrix bolt up to the trans and mounts???? Any info will be appreciated.

I believe that 63 is still a Dynaflow trans is it not?

A temporary transplant is not too practical on NH cars. They are quite unique. Maybe better off trying to get a quicker turn around with the 425 re-do.

Thanks for all the replies. If that engine won't work, what engines will? I could also use some help finding a good rebuilder. Any sugestions?

63 and earlier nailheads will work.

You want a 59-63 401, 59-62 364, or a 63 Riviera 425. Thats it for Dynaflow compatability. If you wanted to mess with the trans too, you could do a swap for a 64-66 401 or 425 with matching ST/SP400 and have to rig a new mount and shifter to be sure, but it would be a better combo. Best thing, rebuild the stock 401, only Rivieras got 425's in 63.

Thanks for all the replies. I guess I'll just have to stick it out and not drive the Electra for awhile. One last question though. Any recommendations on parts and suppliers for rebuilding the NH 425? I am down here in Hawaii and info is limited.
