Howdy, just posting a quick into. I'm 25, from Toronto still working on my '56 Special. Its a mild custom, nosed and decked, cut coils, all side trim shaved and just received it's third (and final)exhaust treatment (stick with garden variety glass packs- Smitty's suck!)
I'm into traditional rods and customs, my number one piss off is morons who replace glorious Nailheads,Y-Blocks etc with SBC's.
Pics of the car to follow...

Hey-

Welcome to the board! I'm relatively new here too, but I've found this to be an extremely helpful site with plenty of helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly people.

Yeah, get some pics up when you can so we can check your project out!

Just down the road from a piece of property that I own near Clarion, PA is a private junkyard. Last year he got a 56 or 57 two door Special that isn't totally rusted away. It's the neatest looking car. Also, my friends dad has a 57 4 door. He rebuilt the engine and tranny and put a coat of paint on it. I think he's going to drive it around.

About 3 years ago I never saw these cars. Now they seem to be popping up everywhere. This is a good trend.

Looks like I have a relative to your car! http://www.buickclub.org/images/56BLUE.JPG This is a picture from Atlanta where I bought it in 1994, since then the oversize whitewalls are long gone, they were L78-15 belted, what a beast to drive. They were replaced with some Uniroyal radials, and the car is a joy to drive now, having driven it to OK and TN! My brother also has a '56 Sedan with a 3-speed, white-tan-black awesome car but he broke the tranny putting it the garage right when he bought it, getting stuck in the mud in his backyard. It has been up on stands ever since, he also has a '56 Century 4-door from WA that is almost road worthy, needs seat belts for the kids. At one time my parents and both grandparents had '56's so they have a special place in our famliy! Look forward to seeing some more pics, let me know if you need any parts as I have a 4-door Special as a parts car. RV
