Hello all,

I have seen some of the posts, and I read articles proclaiming the benefits of switching a '69-72 'Lark steering box to one from a late 70's WS6 optioned Trans Am, or other newer cars like the 80's Monte Carlo SS. Does anyone have any part numbers to search for? I'd hate to pull a part from a junk yard only to find it is incorrect.

Thanks,
JM

Here's a place that sells quick ratio (12:1) GM steering boxes:

I have no experience with them. I found the link on a site for a place that sells rebuilt steering columns.

I believe the Trans Am box was called a "605" box and was supposed to bolt right in place of almost any GM power steering box.

Be careful getting a Firebird or Camaro box---the stops are different then
an A body car(Chevelle,Skylark,442,or GTO) and your turning circle could be affected. I got mine from a Chevelle vendor(SS396.com) and everything was
fine---big improvement in road FEEL and handling, mine is 2.9 turns lock to lock.
