My car has arm rest lights, neither one works. However my coutresy light underdash does. The wires travel from the light socket long the body to under the dash of the car then goes around to the other side I do not understand what it connection is. Under the dash there is plug which has nothing connected which is the same color wires which is Orange and white. How can I trouble shoot this problem without cutting wires. Nothing seems to go to the fuse box but goes to wire harnes to the other side back down to the other light. HELP!!!!!!!!!.

My '63 LeMans convertible is about an hour away (in my brother in law's pole barn).

The next time I am up there I will check.

As far as "how do I test the wires without cutting them" you use a 12v test light with a probe on the end. Stick the probe through the insulation making contact with the wire inside and see what ya' got....

You really should have posted this in the Sparky's Corner section of our forums. Many of us would be glad to help you over there. No biggie, but this section is intended for forum questions and not for auto related questions.

If the arm rest lights are on the doors, you may have a broken wire inside the rubber boot that connects the door to the body. :)

I had a problem with my armrest lights on back seat armrest of my 64 Cat, I took out the door switches and rebuilt them. Mainly cleaned the corrosion and put them back together and now they work. With the headlight switch also. Clean the contact where they plug into the door also, if rusty no contact either

Good Luck
