This is my first GM car in awhile. It's a 71 GS 455. I've forgotten how nice these cars ride. One problem, I've got a hood hinge that rattles, creeks when I hit bumps in the road. I've traced it to the pasenger hinge and if someone pushes on the back of the hood while driving it goes away. I've lubed and greased the hinge no help. It not like the rivets are worn out, the hood fits and closes fine. Seems like it needs some kind of shim. Anyone else experience this? What's the fix or do they sell new hinges?

It's probably not the hood hinge, but the hood stop on top of the cowl. The top is rubber coated, and your rubber is probably worn down to the metal. Try adjusting it by loosening the nut at the base and turning the stopper just to see if it stops rattling, or place a small towl or piece of rubber on top of it before closing the hood. You can remove them and re-dip them in the liquid rubber sold at hardware stores (called Plasti Dip made by Performix) for about $10.

Nope, it's got a good bumper.

Try white lube on all of the rubber bumpers . It has worked here in the past . Rubbers get dry with time and can be a problem .

Worth a try .......... :Brow: :Brow: :TU:

are all rubber bumpers installed where hood meets fenders? Also check for loose bolts on fenders.
