Chris, glad to hear you are making progress! I'll see if I can dig up a proper box for that WW molding, or we may be in the cities at the end of Sept.

I'll bet you would have NO problem trading that 69 rear bumper for a 68 bumper, if you wanted to.

It's slowly getting there, I would love to trade my 69 bumper for a 68.
No hurry on the WOM, if you come down in the end of Sept. definately call me and I'll take you for a cruise. I'm expecting it back by the 15th. These pics are a few weeks old. The car is all in primer and they are blocking it out.
I need to choose a color by the end of the week.

Thanks, this is total budget built car, total so far is 2k for the car, 4k for body and paint, and 1500 for Rims and tires. I also spent 2500 on the motor and $750 on new upholstery, bucket seat foam, door panels and carpet.

Under $11,000 for everything. :beer

Well finally after my body guy's hand healed. He cut it almost in half.
I have paint on my car. Looks real dark in the pics. He said it's more orange than burnt red orange. Can't wait to see this in the sunlight.

Wow Chris, that looks great! Hope I can stop by over Thanksgiving and take a peek.

Can't tell for sure by the pics, but how did you go about painting the ribbed section across the front edge of the stock hood scoop? Did they just go ahead and spray over all of it?

That's a good question... I'll ask him what he did tomorrow. It kind of sucks the car is about an hour away from me and then he got hurt, I've been in the hospital all last weekend. Haven't had much time to find out alot. I just hope the color is what I am looking for in my head. I think the base coat was $580 a gallon. I should have had him buy a pint and spray a test panel but I have no patience. The color is off the 2003 Mazdaspeed Protoge' Spicy Orange Mica. I also want to have pearl Ghost Flames put on the car next year. The guy across from my work does super nice flames and graphics. Back to your question, it looks like he has the ribs masked off. Either way it will be put the way I want it. I still need to figure out how to get it home. There are no seats or seat belts in it right now. I'm not sure when I'll be able to get to it as right now I can't lift anything.

He's always working on somthing:Dou:

Regal is on the road and not bad considering how long it's been sitting. We have to hook up, I have cars that need paint, looks like you found a painter? I have a whole fleet that needs it. I'd love to get the bug painted soon, so I could put that back together over the winter, then paint the Regal, then the one I really want the GS:3gears:

Give me a shout, I'd love to come see that car in person:TU:

Nice, REAL NICE . Yes, work will be performed over the winter/ spring. Hopefully, another 68 or 69 GS will keep the gold car company :Do No: .
Chris- very happy to see the car with paint on it. I didn't realize she was THAT clean under the paint/ primer when you got it home (= ANOTHER car I let slip through my fingers). Looking forward to see the finished product!
PS: what is going on w/ the 400 engine it came with? Would like to find out what the 'knock after being warmed up' was....

hemikillerstg1
11-02-2007, 07:19 AM
George the 400 block is still at Dan's house. The #1 & #2 Rod bearings were bad. Rick Henderson told me that when they went to load it up on the trailer it was real bad. I never tried to start it when I got it here. Someday it will get finished the way I want it. I love the color and would like to do a 4 speed conversion to it.

I need to get a new air cleaner base, the one that I have is a 1" drop base.
I have a 1" spacer laying around somewhere or it's at Dan's house.
My parts should be here this week then I can start to get stuff done.
My grill is up at my parents house so I will get that at the end of the month.
I got to get back to drinking some beers and listening to SRV:beer

Well I did manage to get all my WOM stainless dug out and started cleaning that up. I also got my roof rail weatherstrip mouldings put in. Dug out my rear interior panels and polished up my door handles. I need to find a set of speakers for my rear shelf and get those in. I have lots of underhood detailing to do. Pull out the old carpet and get my stock shifter put back in and the new carpet. Install the weatherstripping and put my vent windows back in.
I need a couple pieces of stainless trim yet. I discovered that my driver's side mirror did not make it back with the car. I need contact the body shop and pray they have it out there along with the gasket. I need to vacuum out the trunk and sell the seats that are in it now along with the B&M shifter. Oh and get my tires mounted on the rims and paint the underside of the wheel wells.
List keeps getting longer. :Dou:

Well today I got the driver's mirror in, door locks, rear interior panels, door panels and wheel opening mouldings. I bolted in the driver's seat and drove around for about a half hour. :3gears:
Feels good to have a car to drive again. Seat belts and new carpet later this week and I still have to get my trunk open as I can't get the lock to turn after putting the gasket in the trunk lock. Seems like common problem the last couple months.:Dou: Maybe tomorrow night I'll get the grill painted and put that in this week too. I'll try to take some more pics this week between the rain. :beer

Well it's about as done as it's going to get this summer.
Still need a trim piece for the passenger fender. This fall I'm going to lower the car a couple inches in front. I did leave a couple of black streaks out on the county road for about a 150 feet. Those Nitto's are sticky tires:3gears:
