I've got 7 original hubcaps for my car but only 3 are really presentable. they need the flat black between the vanes redone, and it looks like about 50 vanes. Before I start to practice on the worst one, does anyone know of a shop that does such tedious work? Thanks, Ken

Ask Buicklawyer on this Board. He had some professionally done recently.
I don't know how deep the vanes are on your caps, but what I have done on similar, (Grilles, wheels) is to paint the whole area black and then go back over the high points with a rag that is damp with paint thinner to remove the paint from the areas you don't want painted.
This is what I did on the ribbed center cap cones for the Riv.
I would do this when the paint is just to the point that you can handle it, but not completely cured.

I have painted my wheels, body mouldings and grill and after the paint dries use a very fine steel wool, as long as the metal is hard enough not to leave scratches. On a 64 wildcat there are a lot of ribs to paint.

Thanks guys! The wipe the paint off idea would be great if the fins were square, but mine are kinda shaped like half a cigarette and rounded at the ends (?) if you can envision that. I think I shake to much to do a decent job of it. :pp Where is Buicklawyer? Ken

I just left him at the Charlotte Auto Fair. Send him a pm over the Board and he will likely answer you by Monday.
