1st off, I want to put a little bigger size tire on my 69 Gs. I was planning on leaving the 14in stock ralleys in the front and putting 15in ralleys on the back. I was hoping to put those Mickey Thompson street radial tires ( not sure if that the correct name but they are for the street and track).

What is the widest and biggest diameter tire I could go with, without doing any modifications?

Also Do you think that would look stupid with the stock factory 14s on the front and the 15s on the back?

these are them

I'm going through the same type of scenario as well. There is an inner lip that needs to be modified and you can gain some clearance there. The whole key is to get the proper backspace for the rim size.

I posted a thread in this section about 17" Buick rallye's ... check those out!!

I am going to order 17 X 7"s for the front first and then put them on the back to see how much room I have all around and base my decision upon that. I am going to try and stuff a 17 X 9.5 with a 5 1/2" backspace and modify the lip.

I have to pay for my engine first so this may be a while :Do No:

I like the idea of a 14" rim on the front - but it all depends on the car and the stance! Since you have the wheels it would only cost you the tires to try it. Make the stance to your liking with the right combination wheels/tires/springs and you will be happy!!!

I dont know if theres any difference from the 69 to 70 fenderwells, but i have those tires on the 7in. rims; 275-60-15, and didnt have to modify or change anything.

with a 15x7 rally on back a 255/60/15 drag radial you have pictured should fit fine.a 275/60/15 might fit,but may require trimming of the inside ww lip.but on a 15x7 rim the 275 will be kind of ballooned on the rim.it will work but a 275 fits a 8'' rim better.
