Hey Y'all
I was wondering why I cant post the same photo in different threads.
Is this a anti old folks devise {you know repeating the shame S*** over & over :Do No:
Do I have to take the other pix down to re post it or can I do something else.
I have never encountered this problem on any other boards.
Thanks for your time.

I would like to know why also.I always have to take a new photo as you for some reason cannot use it twice here so its not just you that has this happen.......

It is to save space. The Board is donation only, with 17K members and a lot of posts and pics. Pics take up the space.
So you can link the second post to the first one or rename the pic.

Use photobucket or one of the upload sites. Then you can post them as many times as you like.
Like this one of my trans.

I was going to post this same exact topic myself. It's a royal pain in the arse as it is trying post and view photos using a modem as it is, but when you sit there with your thumb in a very private place for 5 minutes waiting for the attachment to finish downloading........then only to have to do it all over again is rediculas! Renaming the file doesn't always work either, sometimes you have to change the file type from GIF to JPEG or whatever to make it work. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME!
Perhaps when the attachment menu rejects the new photo, the link to the thread that contains the original photo could be displayed :Smarty: ......that would make more sense to me than having to do a search for the thread that contains it in order to link it. :)

Well I guess its kind of a warning to save space?
So is a picture the same as a 1,000 words?
I guess you can just make a copy of it on your puter & then give it a prefix or suffix like {picture 66 V-8}
Me is self edu ma kated on puter so DOU:Dou:
For all of you windows fans here is a quick & easy picture re-sizer :birthday:

A good solution is to put your photos on a place like www.photobucket.com then all you do is put the link to the pic into your post here. It is free and easy to use. The program even automatically resizes pictures small enough to post here. Give it a try.
Perhaps when the attachment menu rejects the new photo, the link to the thread that contains the original photo could be displayed
Joe, last time I looked that info IS presented to you. Might have to scroll down in the attachments window to see it.

Now that you mentioned it, you're absolutely correct, it does display the name of the thread.....I'll bet you can click on it but I've never tried that.
Photobucket works great, but for us losers  on a dial up it seems to take forever to do it that way. Out here in the boondocks where I live we aren't wired for DSL yet. (I'm considering a dish). Even for just viewing, posting photos is particularly frustrating for us dial up folks even without the limitations. :Dou:

I've tried photobucket and can't get it to work....must be missing something, could you post the steps pleeeease?
Thank you!
Guy
Renaming the file doesn't always work either.
Renaming the file has never worked for me. I'm really quite surprised by that.
In the current thread about the TA 212 camshaft, I wanted to attach a pic of the cam card that came with mine, but since I used it in another thread back when I degreed my cam.
I should open a Photo bucket account.

Guy, use the bottom choice, with the IMG tags.

I've removed the [] brackets so you can see which one to use. The brackets go around IMG and /IMG :

Hi David,
Thank you for helping, sorry for being a pest. My computer skills lack to say the least.
have my pix loaded in photobucket. I click on IMG code to save. (i think there is something wrong in photobucket) Then attach it here on v8.
Seems pretty simple:Do No:

Pester away! :) Maybe it's just your wording(?), but you don't "attach" it here. You just copy it into your post. It appears as text in your text box, but the image appears when you submit.
In Photobucket all you do is left click on the IMG line, then in your text box here, you right click, select "paste", and it appears here. Are you doing that already?

Guy, when I edit your post, I can see that you are using the attachment function to post that picture. Don't use the "Manage Attachments" function at all. Just reply here to start a new post, and IN your reply, copy in the IMG line from Photobucket.com. Then your picture will appear in the post in normal size, rather then being an attached image.
The IMG line would appear as below, except I've added in some spaces so that you can see the text instead of the actual image. Hope this explanation helps.

Guy, this is what I get if I use the Direct Link code instead of the IMG code. Not sure why it would work for you. Again, when I edit your last pic posted, it does not appear to be the Direct Link, it instead shows the IMG code line.
