View Full Version : Heat Riser Leaking - '63 N'Head

Just rebuilt and installed a 401 N'Head in my 63 'Cat Conv. Runs great. The heat riser on the Passenger Side ex manifild has some leakage though. The mechanism (thermo, valve, etc.) work per spec but I need to figure out how to fix the leak. Are there rebuild kits or gaskets out there to seal up this mechanism?

Thanks / Mike

I have bought several of these, they did the job and took care of that problem

If you look at the thread, Joe already sold out. Not sure if he is planning on making any more but I think the only other option is a set of TA Performance headers? Either that or live with the leak.

Joe made a nice piece with these, but I think Mike is talking about the shaft area leaking as the '63 nails of the Dynaflow vintage used the integral heat riser rather than the '64-6 'add on' type. I'd just cut out the flapper and seal up the holes-good luck

Yes - The heat riser that is leaking ('63 N'Head w dynaflow) is an integral part of the ex manifold, not an add on piece like the newer ones talked about in the other thread. I can always remove the heat riser from the manifold and plug up the holes - but if there is a replacement gasket or rebuild kit, I would prefer that. Any ideas??? Thanks all / Mike
