I have this car in my sig. It is a 1968 GS 400 convertible. I am trying to gather parts to start the resto and I am getting a wild hair to switch it to a 4 speed. My question is this: "Do you think it will hurt the value of the car if I make the switch from the original TH400 or put a muncie in it?" I do not plan to sell the car, but I don't want to take away from it's value either. Any thoughts will help. Thanks Ryan.

Well it depends. If it was "Some Special Car" that you could prove than I would leave it alone.

If you are restoring your dads car I would leave it alone.
If you are restoring your car and not going to sell it do what you want because the value doesn't matter.

If a serious collector is looking at it it will lower the value.

I am thinking of putting a 4 speed in a 72GS350 that I am starting, but a 72GS350 isn't as special as a 455 or a '68 GS400.

I get the pleasure of taking my wife and kids to High School Musical on Ice. Wow. I will bring the toothpicks to keep my eyes open.

Ha ha, I got out of that! I do get to watch the youngest while Mom and daughter go. I'm so sick of HSM stuff!

I'm up in Hudson, but cover your areas for work, so I slide through from time to time.

As far as the four speed conversion, I think if done correctly, it can't hurt the value. Remember it's a 68, both 68 and 69's are worth more dead than alive. If you car is a perfect example of that year, then I'd leave it alone otherwise:3gears:
