Hello,
Someone I know has a 1941 Buick and is having problems with the vacuum windshield wipers. He says that the vacuum/fuel pump has an inlet from the windshield wiper and an outlet that goes to the distributor. Apparently this malfunctioned at some point and someone rigged a valve under the brake pedal. This valve has three inlets/outlets.

Does anyone have an idea of how this is supposed to be plumbed?
Thanks,
Mikel

What you have is a combination fuel and vacuum pump.

1 goes to the windshield wipers.
2 goes to the carb(s)
3 is the fuel line from the tan
4 goes to the intake manifold

I can;tell for sure about 2 & 4 , but the top line is the one that goes to the intake.

The distributor has a small separate line from the intake. This uses manifold vacuum only. The wipers have vacuum from the intake and when it drops off, the pump takes over
