Tried the 275/60/15 tires on a pair of 15X8 wheels with 4" offset(backspacing) in the rear of my 71 Sky and they are gonna rub. Can anyone suggest a way of getting this combo to tuck inder the back without too much butchering? I also have a pair of 225/70/15 tires, would that work better on the 15X8 wheels?

Use the stock 15 x 7 ralley rims and that size tire will clear if your springs are in good shape.

What are you going to do if you have a flat? If you carry the big tire as a spare it will not clear on the front. If you carry the small tire it will kill your posi when a big tire is on the opposite side.

I thought that perhaps the 4" backspacing might be a problem for your rim and tire combo? I'm going to run that same combo on my car's rear but my rims will have 4.5" backspacing which a couple of board members here said would work fine with no rubbing.

I just said screw it,I put a pair of 225/70/15 tires on the 15X8 rim. Its a bit conservative but will work fine.
