I haven't had any luck locating a new or a good used front brake drums for my 1956 Buick Century Wagon. I understand there are expensive disc brakes conversion kits. Others have converted the front brakes to the 1959-60 Roadmaster Aluminum fin drums. Anyone with experience or solutions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Tim

Have you tried Scarebird for disc conversion?

I did the swap using finned drums off a 1964 Electra. All you need to do is get the bearings and make a spacer for the inner bearing race as the newer drum uses roller bearings. I just turned down the original inner bearing inner race for mine. Works like a charm, gets rid of the lug bolts, gives roller bearings and accepts a larger width shoe for more stopping power.

Dan,

Thanks for the tip on Scarebird. I just got off the phone with them. They only charge $145 for the brackets and spacers. Just curious did you make the conversion from drums to disc with your ride?
