I have a friend with a set of 15X8.5 (I believe) with 225X70R15 tires on them. The only problem is, they only have 3.5" backspace. Has anyone tried this combo before? Will they clear? I want to try them, but my car isn't running and the rims are quite a drive to go get. TIA

i assume you are talking on a skylark?
i dont think so myself as i ran a 4.5-or 5 in offset on those cars
i actually have a pair of weld prostars with slicks in my garage
from one with 5 in back set and only 8 wide
and if you have the fender skirts you wont make it at all
maybe if 7 in wide rim but still close

Sorry, but yes it is a Skylark. The fender skirts are coming off and wheel well trim is going on. I may still go and see if they can be squeezed in. Just means I have to take a trip. Thanks

Tim,
Save your gas and try searching for a wheel backspacing/offset thread. I know it has been covered before (and recently too). I seem to remember 4.5" offset for 15x8's and 4.25" offset for 15x7's as the optimal fit for Skylarks and a-bodies in general.
