On January 23rd at 6:23 am Victoria was born into our family!! 7 lbs 13 oz...19-1/2" long....my wife and I are extremely happy with that, but she has been in intensive care ever since. There were problems with her kidneys not functioning, she was on a resperator and she had a huge ovarian cyst which burst shortly after she was born. The latest news as of yesterday is that her kidneys are finally functioning, she has been taken off the resperator, but there are complications from the cyst. I'm asking all in the community to pray for our little daughter as she is still in intensive care and will probably be there for quite some time due to the shock of the cyst bursting she can't urinate due to her lower half of her organs being inflamed and irrated (from her bellybutton on down):( She is in so much pain when you accidently touch her belly she winces in pain and crys :ball: So far god has answered some of our prayers....we would just like some more people to pray for our daugher and hopefully more of our prayers will get answered!!!
Thanks to all who pray for our daugher!!

You have my prayers for sure. I will also extend this request to my family and friends. It must be horrible to be standing over your young daughter and being in a position where you just can't do anything for her. But He can and He will. And His will will be done.
My sincere best wishes to your entire family.

Larry,
Prayers really do help. I will pray for you daughter and your family. My son spent 61 days in the NICU and if it wasn't for the strength of others it would have been impossible to keep it together. Be strong for your wife and your daughter. Everything will work out.

Latest update.....our little daugher is slowly getting better....yesterday was the first time my wife got to hold her EVER and today was my turn. She still has a swollen belly and is in pain...she is still cathitorized (sp??) and can't eat from a bottle...the dr's have her on an IV since day 1 and let me tell you, she is extremely hungry for a bottle...the sad thing is that only time will heal it all. We had to go home today, my wife was released from the hospital and we had to leave our little one behind in the hospital....we plan on visiting everyday.....75 mile round trip!!!....its a small sacrafice for our daughter as she is in a great hospital and has very good doctors. All prayers are appreciated and I'm sure they are helping! In the meantime we continue to pray for a speedy recovery ourselves and visit our daughter each and every day to be with her as a family even though we are so far apart.

I'm relieved to hear she is on the road to recovery. It is so hard to see the little ones in pain. God will heal her. She is in my thoughts and prayers, as are you and your wife. It must have been hard to leave the hospital without her. God tests our strength every day, and he is testing you and your wife. Be strong, and soon Victoria will be home with you.

Artie....congrats to you!!!...Our baby is in St. Josephs in Patterson because thats where our baby's doctor is practicing. Last night we had to decide to do an exploritory surgery on her. According to 2 x-rays a small hole showed up on her intestine and they needed to check that. They also decided to check everything while they had her in surgery....let me tell you it was the longest hour and a half of our lives!!...but they found nothing wrong with her. Currently she is still in NICU and is sedated and her belly has been drained of all that excess fluid and she looks 100 times better, my wife is going this morning to visit her and my wife and I are going together later tonight. Its a relief that they didnt find anything, but its also driving us crazy as to what has caused all of this. We are not out of the woods yet, but hopefully she is going to get better soon.

Larry,
Reading all of this brings back alot of memories for me. Back in 1984 our 2nd daughter was born 6 weeks early and had all sorts of problems. She was in the neonatal ICU unit at San Diego University Hospital for a while, we too had to leave her there and trust in the doctors and nurses, boy was it hard. I'm pulling for you. Our daughter is now 24 years old and recently married. Your little girl can do it too!:TU:

Hey Larry, sending out prayers to you and your family. My wife and I had complications with her first pregnancy at 5 months and unfortunately our child didnt make it. Nothing can ever take that pain away but the prayers and the thoughfulness from family and friends can definitely make it a little easier to deal with. May God watch over your family.

Latest news....
On Tuesday 2/19 our daughter was rushed to the hospital once again....they removed 8oz of fluid off her belly and she is still in the hospital. She never had the operation as previously planned, the doctor changed her mind about it. We hope that with more testing tomorrow we will know more and have an answer/direction as to where to go from here and having a 2nd set of doctors looking at her we might have a better 2nd opinion. Thanks for keeping our daughter in your thoughts and prayers!

Latest news.....
Our baby girl was rushed to The Childrens Hospital of Philidelphia (CHOP) on February 28th from New Brunswick NJ. As of right now they have diagnosed her condition as Caudal Regression Syndrome.....her lower back bone is deformed and has basically has cut off her nerves controlling her bowel functions and urinating. Things could be alot worse with this disease, like not being able to walk and death, but in her case she's quite strong in her legs and there isn't any other problem then those 2 things. The doctors there are currently looking in to treatment options for her and we will know more as the week progresses, unfortunatly there wont be a permanent fix, only ways to help her along through life. As she gets older then the hospital (CHOP) will look into other options as to how to treat her.
Its not a victory by any means, but at least were finally getting answers and 1 step closer to having her home soon.

Larry,
I've been watching this post and have been truly touched by what is going on. The LORD does and will heal your daughter! It is just unfortunate that she has to grow up in a harsh enviroment that we live in today. I have a 4 year old grandson who also has to deal with the terrible things that are going on in this world today. I really pray for all the children that have to deal with the things coming into this world today. I hope and pray that you will get a good report from the Doctors and that your daughter is on the rode to recovery. She willl be in the hands of the Lord and He will not let you down!!!
Gods Blessings to you and your family!
Love in the Lord!!!

Larry, Reading this reminds me of when my twins were born 3 months premature. They spent 81 days in the NICU. I know it doesnt seem possible now but one day years from now this will be the furthest thing from your mind. We were told of so many things are kids wouldnt do, and through the the Lords hands they have proved all the experts wrong. Stay strong for your daughter and your wife. And dont forget to take care of yourself, you have many freinds here that you can always lean on.... We will all continue to keep you and your family in our prayers

Latest update:
Currently she is home and was released from CHOP on Friday the 14th. She is doing well after surgery and there really isnt much to tell, as she is a normal 2 month old. As she gets older we will have more options as to how to treat her condition....as we can tell, she love's being home and love's to play with mommy and daddy :) . When she gets older and if things happen to start working, her surgery is reversible, which is a good thing.
So as of right now were looking forward to her growing up, being happy, and giving us sleepless nights, at least while she is a baby LOL. And we are dealing with insurance nightmares as they are giving us hastle as to what is covered and what is not.....were letting the doctors and insurance companies hash it out.
Thanks for all who have prayed along with us!

Its been a LONG time since I have been on here and alot has been happening in my life...my daughter is now 3 years old and is doing fine, although we will know more about her options from CHOP once she gets a little older. Like her dad she is crazy about cars and loves all 3 of mine! :TU: Since I've posted last I had another little one come into the world on October 1, 2010...she is quite cheerful and yes, another girl  ...well at least they will have the hottest cars in high school and no their boyfriends cant drive em :moonu: . Anyways things have gone great as far as my kids health, on the work front, because of my daughters medical bills (over 1 million dollars) and me having 5 hernias (twice operated, still have 2 more to go) I was terminated from my drafting job in 2009, according to them I was tampering with the computer causing a security breach. :af: Trust me if I had the money I would of sued them...since our lovely economy is so great  I was forced to work my part time job at Dicks Sporting Goods and become a part time supervisor there, but the way things are going I will have to try and support a family and a mortgage on a fraction of what I used to make. As far as finding work in NJ, its non existent in the field of Drafting and Design. So I have been collecting unemployment since 2009 which I had to fight for for because of the lies they told the state of NJ. Its not all that bad, at least I get to stay at home with the kids during the day and work at night, at least until it runs out in 2 months, then I'm forced to work retail full time.
Hope everyone here is doing well, like I said its been a long time since I was on here last and I hope everyone is doing well!

Larry, it's so nice to hear Victoria is doing fine! I can't imagine the pain you and yours have had to endure.
Also wishing you the best on the job front. Go find out what's available to you from your state regarding grants or other monetary incentives toward education.
I'm going to say this upfront and I mean it. These days, saying the words "then I'm forced to work retail full time" is a slap in the face for a whole lot of folks all over. Had it not been for some serious regrouping and a business plan, I would have been delivering pizzas after I left the automotive industry's management position I held a few years ago.
Please don't discount any job, Larry.

Larry....happy you still find a moment in time, to keep us posted! As for things of this world, PUT YOUR TRUST IN GOD. I KNOW..this forum isnt the place to preach, but, nothing of this world matters... I have been in construction for 15 years, and out of work for the last 3.5 years, since May of '08. HOWEVER... GOD had seen us through so many times...not knowing where the finances will come from to pay even the smallest of bills.... I wake up each month with money in the account! The POWER of knowing what God can do, is ultimately our goal in life. You simply cannot trust in the world to see you thru these days. So, put your faith in God. He will never give you more than you can bear. He never fails.
. . .and thats all I'm gonna say about that. Meanwhile, our family will pray for you and yours! God Bless. and be sure to Bless God in return! Wheelz, Tampa Bay

I just read all of this thread for the first time.
It's good to know that your daughter is well.
I can't imagine what it would be to have a sick child.
However, I'm right there where you are on the job front. For 31 years; I was a Land Surveyor. Liscensed by Alabama as Professional Land Surveyor since 1993. I, too was laid off in 2009; after, 31 years with the same company. I found work ; making less than 1/2 as surveying paid. (I'm working at a restauran, currently). Good news for me; the restaurant, gave me 2 raises. So, after two years at the restaurant; I am making 32% more than when they first hired me, in 2009. And, the increase in wages came with no increase in responsibilty!
Hang in there! Enjoy, the time with your Family!
