I believe it was possible to special order a color not normally available on a GS from another GM line. Could you also order a color from a prior year? For example, would it have been possible to order a 1971 GS painted 1970 aqua mist (code 34 I think)? If so, what would have been on the trim tag for the paint code?

Thanks,
Donny

Donny that depends on the front seats in the car and the model. For a K code paint it was black or pearl. So for example if it is a bucket seat 70 GS it would be TR 188 or TR 185. Again this is assuming the order followed the 1970 Color Trim book recommendations.

Sorry for not being clearer Jim. What I'm tying to find out is was it possible to special order a 1970 GS color, in this case K or 34 for aqua mist, on a 1971 GS since aqua mist was not offered in '71. If so, what would the paint code on the trim tag be (34, **, --, SCO)? The interior is TR 185, pearl white buckets.

I think if you paid a fee and had the paint mixing code you could get any color you wanted back then. Whether an existing 34 code from 70 model used in on a 71 would draw a 34 or a SCO PNT cowl tag is something I do not know.
