Didn't know if this should go here, or somewheres else(Just let me know) a few buicks in there...but oh my God....all those GM cars.....all those early 60's Convertibles in seemingly very restorable condition!!! I saw this on a lincoln forum a frequent. Seems to be more than one yard, but that one Yard!!!1:eek2: It will take a minute or so even with fast connections to see all the photos...

The Buick field may be in Canada somewhere. A Chalet Blue '60 Electra convertible with bucket seats identical to mine, just rotting away .:ball:

South Bay? Where's that? There's a road right next to the place, so people are driving by it all the time. What a great place. Nothing like that in Ohio, that's for sure.

No, the guy who put the link on the lincoln forum said he found them on yet another forum! ;)
I guess we can assume that if those are in Canada, it's western Canada? Or at least some part that doesn't use salt at all???
I can hope some rich, crazy(but not too crazy!) car guy will have some folks search for the lot, buy up all the cars, and restore the restorable.

I can guarantee it won't be East Coats Canada. Any local cars long ago sold for steel content. Those that remain in a few smaller yards are the exception to the rule. Likely the paint is the only thing holding any eastern cars together by now unless stored inside & never Winter driven.

Hi,
I tried to blow up the licence plates on the ones I could see, but they get too blurry, the brown early 60's Buick looks to have an Ontario plate hanging on it. The trailer in the back ground does say Canada on it.

It looks like there are several different peoples' pics there. Just checking the properties alone will show a few different photobucket sites that they were scoured from. One of them, belonging to "mojogator" has a bunch of the pictures taken out in fields. If you go to his photobucket site, you see he has ebay photos uploaded. Go to ebay and check for seller mojogator and there he is... in Nashville.

The first set is by drjdvm95 - the one with a lot of Camaros. His name is Ned Jackson, if you believe his youtube video of his Camaro (which you can also see at his photobucket site). By watching the video, it says that he won a trophy in a show in Pleasanton, CA.

Another one is swdobbs, but his photobucket site is password protected. After checking jalopyjournal, it appears he's in Montana.

Another one is chevytodd, and it's password protected. But, doing a google search brings up a chevytodd on fullsizechevy.com and I'm leanging towards it being him as I did see the same photobucket information linked in an archived version of the site, but the image link I found in a current version was a little different. The location there says Edmonton, AB. And he did take the picture with the trailer that says Canada's Rock n Roll on it.

Then there's one that has the photobucket of someone going by 1951chevy. In his site he has a set of photos called 'my 49 dodge coronet.' The car in the picture has Indiana plates. His photos included the tree in the engine compartment.

There was also a couple of smaller sized photos at the end that are different from the group. Those were from renorat and it's a private photobucket site too. But I searched for renorat and 'wrecking yard' and found that he posted them on jalopyjournal a couple of years ago. In his post he says he isn't telling where they are, but they're in Nevada somewhere. One of them shows a company called D&L something... I think that may be the yard where his pics came from.

I'm thinking a bunch of them may have came from the jalopyjournal.com site. In fact I'm now thinking I should have started there and looked for their usernames to start - probably easier. You know how many of us use the same username for multiple places - makes tracking easier...

Some of those pics could have been taken in western Canada, possibly the BC interior, as I've seen rolling hills there. One or two pics have a bit of snow, which doesn't help ID location much.

Many others look to have been taken in a climate which receives a fair amount of rainfall, judging by the overgrown foliage. In fact, I went through a couple of yards like them with Greg, Wildcat1562 a few years ago.

Then there's the razor wire topping the fence in some other pics, which I've seen mainly in the eastern US, usually near or in major cities. Of course, that wouldn't necessarily mean anything.

All in all, my bet is a collage of several wrecking/storage yards.

Looks like they may be the owner of the cars in the fenced pictures.

If you don't work in some investigative capacity, you should consider it at least!:TU:

It's all basic stuff that's available to anyone (that's why I explained my steps).

I do work in an investigative capacity, but nothing like you'd think. Below is my world:

There used to be a road of wrecking yards in Woodinville, WA. They had an old parts yard. They were closing and selling everything off. They had about a dozen 61-63 Skylarks there. Some of them looked like they could have even been runners. I just drove through that area today, and all the yards have been removed as urban sprawl took over.

its kind of that way in every state
look and you shall find
i travel alot latly and mostly just to see what i can find
and we hit alot of differnt states
we start with a search for local yards in a direction we want to go
comes up with a few
we get to them and ask from there
and usually if not always they come up with more local yards within 20 to 30 miles
and if we wanted we would/ could stay out for month just doing this
our last trip south to okky we found several yards
one just outside of tolsa that the cars where untouched
there was a 62 wildcat in there
full auto consol bucket seats
never touched
also a few 61 and 62 pontiac full size stick cars
and a 66 chevy ss impala with a 396 and auto consol buckets everything complete
they just sold a 70 skylark gs befor i got there
it was a convertable and in great shape
he said they got a fe thousand for it
there was a 60 electra convertable in there
someone put a dual quad on it it looked like and had aluminum cover
couldn't buy nothing off of that one
is there anyone close to Cabool MO
nice yards down there
it must be over 200 acres

That's the yard at New Waverly......about 15 miles from me. That yard will make you cry....all the cars gone to waste.

Well, Greg H and his pal Zimm-who we call the 'energizer bunny' as he tears thru boneyards harvesting the parts-are still hitting those that remain. But I have a feeling that before I tip over, yard prowling may well be one of those 'remember when' memories... and that Google Earth is fun stuff!
