i have 235/60r15's on my rims right now but i have a chance at some good 245/60r15"s for cheap. anyone use this size on their 15x7's? the 245's would be a little taller then my 235's i have on right now right? correct me if im wrong! thanks in advance...

245s are the closest to the original G 60s that came from the factory in 1970 I use those and so do many others.

A lot of us run 255's with no problems front and rear, although I am putting
15x8's rims on my rear. If you move up-- your speedometer will be wrong--that is
assuming it was right with the 235's. Pete

I have 245x60x15 on 15x7 Buick rallys on the front of the car and 275x60x15 on 15x8 Buick rallys on the rear. Both sets fit great.

Okay, now the question becomes, how does one correct the speedometer reading if one switches from the 14" stock tires to 245-60-R15s? Is there a gear somewhere that can be swapped or something?

Thanks.

the difference in circumference of the 235 vs the 245 is insignificant. do not worry about changing speedo gears.

235-60-15s
sidewall height 5.55
height 26.1
width 9.25
tread contact is usualy like an inch less then actual width..

245-60-15s
SH 5.79
W 26.58
H 9.65

Yes...you can change the plastic gear in the side of the automatic transmission. I did that on my GSX Stage 1 and dialed in my speedometer with a portable hand-held GPS (Global Positioning Sensor) to within one
tenth of a mile per hour when I changed from a 3.64 posi to a 3.08 posi.
I doubt it's worth doing on a tire size change like you stated.

I just did 245/60 on 15x7's to my car for the fronts. No problem at all.

When I went from a 2.93 to a 3.42 my speedo showed way too fast for actual speed. Now I went from a 26 to a 28 inch tire in the rear. Hmmmmmm, maybe that will equalize it?? One can only hope!
