Question! '64? Skylark and Wildcat Convertibles

Hi,

I have a question here. What would you do?

I posted a sad picture of a '72 Suncoupe here a few months back that a local yard had hit with the forklift beyond repair.

They are at it again and have a '64? Skylark in line for the crusher. It is a 2 door, AC, auto, V8, 4 barell car. It has a good deal of parts. Fenders, hood, core support, drivers door, and rear bumper are very nice. Complete drivetrain is still there. No interior.http://home.mindspring.com/~willisford/_uimages/Im001895.jpg
As hard as it has been to find '69 sheetmetal, I imagine that '64 is as tuff.

Here is my question:

Is there any advantage for me to buy the car, save what I can, and try to trade for '69 and 455 parts?

I do not need the car. It is sad seeing it go. I am probably not alone in running across what I do not need, but thinking someome else may. Do you buy and Ebay, what you do not need?

For my GS, I had to get a door from Texas, and a fender from South Carolina, bumper from Florida. Not fun or cheap.

Can't tell by the pic, but how bad is the drivers 1/4 on the 64 Skylark? The wheel moldings are worth something too.
My 64's 1/4 was hit ages ago and done poorly (rest of the car is mint). If I ever do it, it could use the inner wheel well and inner back 1/4 bottom too.
As to 69 fenders, there were some on ebay not too long ago. I think they were $250 each but looked decent. Don't think they sold.
That Wildcat convert. looks too good to crush........ugh! :ball:

If the rocker moldings are good they're worth at least $100 to a 64 or 65 Skylark owner. The 4 barrel for 64 was one year only. aluminum intake and heads. If you grab it be sure to get all the linkage, etc as it's 4 bbl specific.

I know a guy who wants that rear bumper as-is.

How much do they want for the car?

Hi,

I looked at the '64 again yesterday. Heads and intake are alumimum - pretty cool. What years had the aluminum heads?

I took a few pictures of the drivers quarter pannel and engine, and will post them later today on the off site web page.

He started at $400.00, but I am thinking $200.00. Would probably end up at $275.00 or $300.00?

The Wildcats are not in line "yet" for the crusher.

Only the 64 300 had the aluminum heads and manifold. The heads go for some good $$$ on Ebay. Seems they also fit the later Rover engines and are popular.
At $300 for the car, you should get that back easy on the parts.

Definitely buy it--you can sell the 4bbl. intake and carb for what you will pay for the car.

And while your at it get all of the unique suncoupe parts off the 72. (sunroof, and emblem and such.) Sell them theyre worth some money if they are in good shape and you dont have to pay too much for them.
