If I'm gone for a while the new posts stop at page 20. Also I went to check on an older post (post hack) and only 20 pages came up. Is this the limit or something??

Thanks!!

I have set the number of posts per page before splitting to a second page to 25 posts.

This means post 25 times and a new page will start at 26. However, I recommend closing the post after 50 pages and starting thread XYZ II. This helps streamlines things a bit. I also makes searchs and just bringing up the thread a bunch faster.

Try it out now and let me know if you can see all the pages. At the moment there are no limits to the number of pages.

No Mike, still not working.

If I click on my own posts, is goes 20 pages and the oldest is from jan '07.
But if I search for a older thread by key word it pulls it up from '03.

Jason, I'm with you. I noticed this too. 500 posts is the most you will get in any search. Also, I wish there was a way that the search would let you search for multiple words at the same time. For example, if you search "solid, cam" you get every thread/post that has the word "solid" and every thread/post that has the word "cam" I want just the ones that have "solid" and "cam" I've seen these boolean searches in other places.

I hear on you on that one too Andy!!!!! Some people on the board get a lil' outta shape if they feel it's been answered before, but to search 1000's of posts when it could have been whittled down to may be a few, if Exact phrases and such , is a pain in the butt.

But 1 problem at a time...:TU:

The forum is set to only display the first 500 returns on any search. This includes word searches, as well as thread and user searches.

And 500 returns fits on 20 pages, at 25 search returns per page.

I experimented a while ago, and changed that option to 1000 returns, and as expected, it doubled the seach time.

I guess the point here is if you can't search and find something in 500 returns, and it's an important thing your looking for, then let me know and I can temporarily change that to a higher limit, but for the mass number of folks looking for info, they are going to find it in 500 returns, and the board runs twice as fast.

But if your looking for specific information, then refine your search thru the advanced search options, and search in just the Engine forum, if your after an engine related question.. then you will get 500 engine responses. Try it yourself.. search "stage 1" on the whole board, and then do and advanced search, and search "Stage 1" in street/strip 455.. You get very different results

Also, most of the common questions are located in the "FAQ" forum on home page. There is also a FAQ section for forum operation.

Afraid there is nothing I can do about this issue..
