How many of you are running extra gauges in your car to verify/monitor engine vitals.

I'm just kinda curious if I should find something to discretely put under the dash or if everyone just relies on the factory gauges.

I kinda want a tach since there isn't one.

Maybe real Oil pressure and temp would be good also.

I use extra gauges. Not sure that it is needed though, as long as stock gauges are not the idiot light style.

I took apart LED gauges and made a custom gauge cluster that I mounted where my ashtray would go.

I run aftermarket gages that have faces similar to the existing instrumentation. I now run a warning light next to the tach for water temp & oil pressure due to a mishap a few years ago.

The problem is that gages do nothing to warn you when you're not looking at them.

Link to what I have done so far. One of these days I want to get my two stock guages made over in white background. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=110974&highlight=interior
