Put my brand new MT ET Street Drag radials on this morning. Got the 275/60-15 size for the street. I know they get sticky and pick up pebbles. I wanted to buy some burnout guards, but no one seems to make them anymore. So, I went to a Crafts store and bought a 48" X 24" sheet of magnetic rubber material. Cut it out to fit the lower quarters. Then had it painted by a good friend who is handy with a spray can. Turned out pretty good.

That's the idea. I won't have to worry about rock chips either.

That's a great idea Larry which I need to do. Here's what could happen if you ever make the mistake of doing this to your MT's on the street.

Which is why I use painters tape on my lower quarters at the track. Peal it off at the end of the day and it's all gone. I wanted something more permanent for the street. I don't plan on doing any burnouts on the street. If you drive around on the MT's, they will warm up enough to hook fairly well when you need it. My concern was the rocks thrown up from the sticky tires.

Looks good Larry. :TU: I like running around town with the M/T`s out back, but I don`t keep them on too long as they wear quick I hear.Later,Tony.

I hit my lower rear quarters with a little clear type car wax before going to the track and I dont wipe it off ...then when I get home it pretty much hoses off - then a quick wipe...I like your idea better though....J

I think I like the burnout guard idea the best but if you dont have that I have another method that works great. I use lemon scented pledge! Ok ok. Doesnt have to be lemon scented but it smells nice. :pp Give the quarters a good coating and at the end of the raceday a garden hose rinses all the rubber off that otherwise would have been welded to the quarters.

I made one out of a flat piece of black plastic.

It goes horizontally between the rear bumper and the mud flap. With the way the bumpers stick out on my car that area is just askin' to be filled in with something.

I like it because it is fairly discreet and there is no cleaning involved at all; it stays nice even while you are at the track.

I have 3.73's. The 28's reduce that to 3.55's I still have the 50's for the track. You need to get that car down the track. The G Tech may not be accurate.

Who painted those magnets for you?
Looks like he's pretty good with a spray can!
They came out real nice.

Hey Larry, are those GS wheels 15x8s? That tire looks good on that rim. :TU:

Yes, 15 X 8. Should be good on the street.

Hey Larry...great idea...it always pays to figure it out yourself, and it will be much cheaper.
Great job and the tires look great on that rim.
